Ok guys bear with me on this one...

Although i am not adverse to painting small details in my minis i and somwhat offput by the lining technique that is commonly portrayed in the codex for black templars, so sitting down at my metaphorical drawing board i began to wonder at other methods of painting black armor (space marine in perticular).

The fruit of my brainstorm was a method that may not work, here i am askin yea forum if it will work...

STEP 1) Gathering a can of Army painter uniform grey spray (life saver btw) basecoat all the space marines in the flat coat of grey

STEP 2) using sucsessive washes of badab black suffiniently darken down the armour until most if not all the blue tones of the gray have vanished

STEP 3) Now possibly use fine edging with ice blue or fortress grey to complete the effect

STEP 4) Paint in the other gubbibs with the ususal base-wash-highlight tequnique ect...

so there it is...

thoughts?
feelings?
Deep hearted desires for yours truly?

anywho let me know peeps :-D

You won't get much in the way of thoughts or feelings til we see a test model. I'm interested to see it, but personally I don't think ice blue will be a good highlight, especially if, as you're saying, "most if not all the blue tones of the grey have vanished" so going for a Codex Grey highlight seems about right.
