Hey, I was recently trying to assemble a tyranid battleforce and the slots in the bases that come with it are too wide for the gaunts...is this just something that I have to deal with and hold each individual one until it dries, or was it a mistake and are there slotted bases with smaller slots out there?

A good way to make them stick in base slots that are a bit too big is to put it in, and stuff some green stuff in the bottom, so it mushes into the empty spaces. When it hardens, it won't come off.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

thanks for the replies I'll have to try the green stuff method I'm surprised I hadn't thought of that

To solve this issue with plastic figures I have used hot glue. Blob the hot glue on the base top, stick the figure in and its set in seconds.

I have done the hot glue and the green stuff method. Both work. I have to say however, that I like the hot glue method a bit better. I have 2 reasons for it:
1) You don't have to wait for it to cure to paint. It dries and sets rather fast.
2) Hot glue sticks are way cheaper than Green stuff and other fill puddies.

1 thing the green stuff does it fill the gaps that sometimes occur in the slotted bases making for a full area for your base decoration or design. The hot glue will not.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

Very simple solution.

Use plastic glue when attaching figs to the bases. You are putting glue on their feet/hooves/clws right? The actual tab doesn't need to be glued, just the parts sitting on the base, and with the plastic glue it will be set almost instantly and hold exceptionally well.

Built many hundreds of figs this way, bugs included

Another easy way... bend the tab, putting a small kink in it. This helps it stay in the base even if the slot is too wide.
