This is a quick question.
My chapter is called the Fists of Dorn. They are, obviously, an Imperial Fists successor and have the theme in my army that everyone who can have a power fist, does have a power fist (ok to a sensible degree). I have just bought a box of assault termies to build up as the usual 3TH&SS and 2 LC termies. In light of this, I was wondering how people would feel about me giving my assault terminators Power Fists and Storm Shields, as opposed to Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields. Powerfists and Thunder Hammers are very similar in effect anyhow, and I would be willing to forget their special rules anyway, and simply play my termies as powerfist and storm shield termies if that made it easier.
tldr:
Would you say it was acceptable to model TH&SS termies with Power Fists and Storm Shields instead?
Thanks
Lunarman

You could just replace the hammer part with a fist. Plus it would look cool.

As long as you wouldn't also run any PF/SS with your "counts as", I would thinks it reasonable to request that. I'd be sure to explain your reasoning, as it makes a strong case.

Let's see...you're playing an item that is replacing something better than itself (by one small advantage) and you are agreeing to just lose out on the points? Sure, play away. Anyone who refuses is a TFG. I do agree with replacing the TH with a PF though. It would help a lot of people (and would make the model WYSIWYG). Save the Thunder Hammers though, in case you decide to change chapters at a later date!! Those things are expensive to buy back.

I wouldn't have any issues with it. ^^
Another option that hadn't been presented yet would be to replace the Terminators' thunder hammers with powerfists - rules-wise as well as model-wise, I mean - then add a special rule for the Assault Terminators - and only Assault Terminators, not the Tactical ones and not any other model in the army - that allows them to treat powerfists as thunder hammers. Or perhaps forces them to treat PFs as THs? I can't imagine a reason to take a powerfist's stats over a thunder hammer's stats, but I'm sure some twisted people out there can think of one or two.
Bam, same effects rules-wise as the unmodified version, but a little more fluffy for your army. ^^
It's a little complicated, and it might not go over as well with some opponents, certainly not as well as the whole, "Hey, can I use powerfists instead of thunder hammers on my assault terminators? My chapter's got a bit of an obsession with oversized hands of doom, due to their lineage. So basically they want to use powerfists wherever possible, as you can see embodied in my list here," thing.
But yeah. In general, I don't object to my opponents fiddling a little with their models to make them fit their army's fluff. I don't mind even more when it's really, REALLY obvious. Terminators with powerfists and storm shields fit that bill to a T, since storm shields are so instantly recognizable. What else are they going to be?

As long as you make it clear what's going on with everything before the game starts I don't think you'll ever have an issue. It's also not like the differences ever actually matter 99% of the time (I think I've seen the TH's effect come into play in *one* game in the last 6 months?)
