I've come across an opponent who pointed out that the narrative passage above the fortune ability
"evade enemy fire"
as implying that it can only be used when rerolling shooting saves.

For me this is just ridiculous, but could anyone point out where it's explicitly said that it can, or cannot be used in close combat?

I've ran a search on google and most results are about whether or not you can cast fortune in close combat, not using it to reroll cc saves. IMHO, if you can cast it but not be able to use it then it's just silly.

Thanks

It says "reroll any failed saves until the start of the next Eldar turn."

It doesn't say it only applies for shooting, so when it says any it means any. If a Warlock has had fortune applied and then trips over a rock (Dangerous Terrain), he gets to reroll his invulnerable for that.

The narrative fluff =/= rules. It says 'any', therefore it is any invulnerable save that can be re-rolled.

Thanks guys

I think the word 'any' kind of nailed it.

Fortune is for any save you can take. Invulnerable, Cover or Armour. If you're good, try arguing for re-rolls to Feel no Pain.

The sink.

Seer Councils wouldn't be nearly as nasty if Fortune didn't work in CC.
