If you live in such a rural place and you've tried the nearest hobby shops, then it's pretty obvious that online is your only option.
If you do a rudimentary search on google, you'll find a frikkin TON of sites to order from.

That all depends on your application(s). Different projects require different thicknesses.

Over the hills and far away.

Kwapple a good Australian site was back 2 base-ix. Thats where i got my plasticard from. I really dont think you can go wrong with Ebay either.

Also a cheap alternative which may also be your most viable option would be to use the beware of dog type signs. Some people swear by them as a cheap sub for plasticard. They are available at Bunnings and Mitre10, places like that.

Some of the companies that make the stuff sell packs with sheets of several different thicknesses. I think that is a good way to start, though maybe not when paying for shipping.

The one I bought had a sheet each of 0.25mm/0.01in, 0.5mm/0.02in, 1mm/0.04in. I have some 0.005in sheets I bought long ago and don't find them useful (too thin).

I would guess that 1.5mm would probably have roughly the same rigidity of an injection molded plastic model, so could be useful for vehicle building.

Yes, there are a scary amount of dogs in Alice.

Still, gives one a break from roo-shooting. Dogs move differently.

Sounds like you settled on the option I was going to suggest.

One other bit of advice. Look closely at the selection of signs at your hardware store and you can usually find more than one thickness of plascard. I usually buy the cheap smaller signs that are made of .5mm plascard which is a good size for most uses. However, the larger signs are often made of a thicker plascard that you may find usefull for larger surfaces or something requiring greater thickness or rigidity.

Best of luck with your project.
