im just wondering what peoples views are of the quality of the fine cast (is it resin?) over the previous metal versions?
is it easier to work, paint, mould bend and base coat? do you need a face mask when trimming to avoid dust like resin? etc etc, you get the point im just curious to what peoples views are and if GW has made the right choice to move to it

Very easy to bend. Just put it in a hot car for 15 minutes.

Are the foam case sellers going to start selling coolbag versions of their stuff, so the Finecast stuff stays rigid?
They're onto a winner if they can get compartments for freezer-blocks in there.

Oh! Like the lunchboxes with the little freezer packs! They'll sell the "official games Workshop troop cooler" for 39.99.
Of course that is just the freezer pack. The case will cost extra.

Ultramarine Terminator with Assault Cannon
|
Let's just say I was at a LGS yesterday for an auction. They had a good selection of the new Finecast models and I was ready to buy what I wanted.
Model One: Space Marine Librarian in terminator armour. The LGS had two on the rack. After inspecting both of them, neither were of an acceptable quality.
Lost Sales = 1
Model Two: Vangaurd Veteran Squad. After inspecting multiple clam packs to get a feel for the overall quality of Finecast I was left with enough doubt as to not purchase anything I couldn't readily inspect before opening.
Lost Sales = 2
Model Three: Marneus Calgar and Honour Guard. Again, after inspecting multiple clam packs to get a feel for the overall quality of Finecast I was left with enough doubt as to not purchase anything I couldn't readily inspect before opening.
Lost Sales = 3
Let's add the retail prices together... It comes out to $123.25.
That's a pretty decent sale that this LGS unfortunately lost because of poor product perception. :(

so generally as a total there lacking in totality with the new fine cast?
looking back on some other posts ive noticed the quality is that of forge world and after reading some complaints ive noticed of warping (in one particular case of my mate in Florida, melting to some degree) the resin they are using is substandard for the modellers need? from everything i know about resin (after working with varying types in college over the years (literally)) for the same detail as shown on the website depending on the curing agents used you could have detailed models hard and unflexable (but not brittle) and as hard as pewter o.o able to stand heat upto and over the 3 digit mark in Celsius.
so from what i understand, material its self as far as gw goes is fw standard, how about painting the things?
