Hi everyone,

I'm looking for ideas and opinions on how to make a "fluff" intensitve World Eaters army list (with the Chaos Space Marine Codex). However, short of running lots of Khorne Berzerkers and Kharn himself, I've run out of ideas (I know... not much to start with unfortunately).

The list is intended to be Post Heresy Era, hence, the use of Kharn, but aside from him and possibly Abaddon, I don't know of any other HQ choice that would be pretty suitable for the army. Daemon Princes aren't bad, but in practice and theory, Khorne DP's are the worst amongst the 4 choices. I also have seen no fluff or background on World Eaters using ANY kind of long range support or firepower. A friend of mine told me that there was a justifiable "fluffy" reason to include Obliteraters, but he couldn't remember where he had read that.

I know that short of me including a few Obliterators or Havoc Squads, a true to fluff Khorne Army will have little to no long range shooting. So I guess my questions are:

1. How can I play this fluff intensive list and still play it competitively?
2. Does anyone know of any fluff that justifies a Khorne army having long range fire support (site and source would be appreciated)?

Thanks a lot!

1. Berzerkers, Berzerkers everywhere.
2. Land Raiders, Land Raiders everywhere.
If you really want a fluffy list, you'll probably just end up relying on LR's for Lascannons.

I recommend finding a copy of WD April 2009 and those for several months after it. It features a small piece in each about a guys Khorne based army, it's actually quite impressive. I'll try and scan it in if that's allowed.

Here's another idea:

Khorne Berzerkers on Bikes! With speed and good variation of weapons, I think it'd make it pretty competitive. Only question is, would it suit the fluff? Ideas anyone?

@iproxtaco, if you manage to find the article, PM with what you've found, since we know GW is touchy about posting stuff on the internet.

Thanks again for the suggestions, everyone!

I have the April edition, for some reason I missed the ones after it, but anyway I will scan the pages and PM you, it's a great article, doesn't get enough coverage and will really help you I think.

If you like fluffyness and don't care about competitiveness then one HQ choice could be a chaos lord with mark of khorne on a juggernaut. With a pair of lightning claws he's putting out 7 attacks on the charge, not too shabby.

Take Abbadon, but use the Lord Zhufor model from Forge World.

It was an idea I had a while back.

If you want it to be competative, but keep it super fluffy, I guess you just have to suitibly replace all of the long range stuff you can. Covering the distance quickly sounds like your best bet, like your idea with the bikes, which I think sounds awsome by the way (the whurring of chainswards, the rumble of engines...).

: )

Like Self Destruct said, Landraiders are a really good idea. Justafiable based on the fact they are assault tanks! fill them with Berserkers

Terminaters with lightening claws and MoK to deepstrike In? a lord with a demon sword too, the Khorne one of them is a bit mental.

Possessed can potentially get wings cant they? I know its a risk, but is it a risk worth taking.

Who can infiltrate/outflank in Chaos?

I play a Vanilla Bike list as well, which is where I got this original idea from. I have to admit it does sound badass the way you put it though.

I figured as much. It's just that they're so expensive to take, and without Power of the Machine Spirit, it's really lacking in comparison to the Vanilla LR's. But I guess it can't be avoided... What's everyone's thoughts of running multiple LR's? I was thinking 2 in a 2000 point list would be hopefully be enough. Thoughts?

Not really a fan of teleporting Terminators, although with Icons it shouldn't be a problem avoiding mishaps. Just worried that they'd get shot up really quick before getting a chance to see combat.

Don't think they can get Wings. Pretty sure that's only an HQ only upgrade.

Chosen can, IIRC. I don't think anyone else can.

Follow up question:

Would Raptors fit the fluff? Just wondering if anyone's heard of them being any way involved with the World Eaters...

Do everything in 8s, where possible; ie 8 marines per squad.

I once saw a Khornate army where the guy had rigged it so that even the points costs of his units were multiples of 8s, though that might be a bit much.

Although they're not the best unit in the codex, dreadnoughts would not be inappropriate in a World Eaters army, and might break up the monotony of berzerkers and raiders a bit as well as provide some additional longrange (ie, antitank) firepower.
