I currently have an Armageddon Battle cruiser as my Venerable Battle Barge, and was looking to upgrade it into something a bit more durable. The Inquisition Cruiser caught my eye, being 6+ armor, fast, bombardment cannon, and thunderhawks, its basically a pumped up strike cruiser. However, I am running into difficulty figuring out where the inquisition fit into the game, race wise.

For the purpose of this
FAQ/Errata, the races are Imperial Navy (including
Adeptus M echanicus), Space M arines, Chaos
(including Chaos Space M arines), Eldar, Craftworld
Eldar, Dark Eldar, Orks, Necrons, Tyranids and Tau
(including Tau allies).

Per the above quote, from the 2010 BFG Compendium, the Inquisition is left out entirely, which would not be a big deal, since common sense would dictate the Imperial Inquisition is part of the "Imperial" race. However, RogueTrader ships were excluded as well. Later on in the FAQ, in the Allies/ Reserve section, Rogue Traders have their own sepperate bullet, similar to the previously mentioned races. However, the Demiurg and Kroot (who are under the bubble of Tau, per the previous quote) are also featured. So in short, Is the Inquisition part of the "Imperial" pool of ships allowed by the Space Marine fleet list?

In addition to their fleet list, any Space Marine fleet
may include a single Venerable battle barge
(meaning only one!), which may be any Imperial or
Chaos battleship, grand cruiser, battlecruiser or
heavy cruiser (painted appropriately of course!).

The Inquisition list indicates that the Cruiser is consider a Battlecruiser in an imperial fleet, though this is purely from a reserves point of view. Assuming that yes, it is allowed, would the Inq Cruiser's launch bays be reduced by half for the thunderhawk refit? Does logic dictate that the refit doesn't need to happen, as it already has T-Birds? In addition, where do inquisitorial ships stand in being added to a Space Marine Crusade fleet? I am familiar with the no allies/ reserve rules, but the article makes several mentions of Inq ships in Crusade fleets, sowing some mild confusion.

Secondary Questions (for curiosity's sake): Where do Rogue Traders fit into this? Could a Rogue Trader Cruiser be used as a VBB? What about AdMech ships? They are considered imperial per the above race quote. Obviously, with no battlecruisers, battle ships are the only option. What of "unique" ships from lists such as the Ark from the AdMech, or Jovian from the Bakka list, as a VBB represents an ancient ship which has been overhauled/ refitted for marines needs? Would the blurb in each "unique" ships entry override the VBB option?

Thanks for any help. Cheers

I read the Imperial and Chaos to mean Imperial Navy or Chaos.

The Inquisitorial, RT and Admech ships aren't really under that auspice. Admech ships have their special rules because they are admech. The first citation relates to their inclusion for changes to or clarification of their rules rather than listing for fleet.
