So I've been considering making an Ad. Mech/Squat army, and was wondering what codex you guys thought would fit such an army?

I've been considering them, but they seem to be weak IIRC.

The sink.

IG is probably the most powerful codex out there right now.

Annnnd what makes you assume that an Ad-Mech or a Squat army would be powerful in close combat...?

Well, Squats are basically Dwarves in space and therefore strong then Humans, and the Ad-Mech I assume would be stronger then non-augmented Humans.

Yeah stop thinking that way.
The Admech probably are stronger but the best way to represent a Tech Guard regiment is the Guard codex.
Veterans in chimeras with tanks in support.
Obviously a techpriest would be a good idea.

Okay but, first, what about the Squats? I was thinking that normal models could be Vet's and Exo-Armour could be Ogryns. But that leaves the question of the Squat's leader.
Second, should I include a CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT?

Squats probably use command squads...
Or you could have an Engineer squat that is a lord commissar.

And yes. Yes you should.

Should I use Catachan's instead of Cadian's? I would think that the Catachan's would be more powerful in close combat, but the Cadian's better in shooting.
