Okay, so it's prett obvious what we're talking about. A Dread can have KMB, Skorchas, Rokkits, Big Shootas and more CC weapons. Now, the KMBs are some of the best weapons out there, but considering the Dread has BS2, not so much. Same happens with the Rokkits. The Big Shoota compensates this with its Dakka, making it a good option is you want it to have some anti-infantry power. Then again, the best option it has for anti infantry is the Skorcha. Still, I think the extra CC wepons are the best choice. The Dread would have 6 S10 attacks when assaulting and the advantages walkers have. It would tear appart any vehicle, even monoliths! The down side is that it would have no ranged power.

Discuss!

I run 2 with double cc weapons in my kanwall for aditional armor saturation. A deff dred will always be running in the shooting phase unless it's going to assault that turn. Don't think any of the guns are worth 1 turn of bs 2 shooting. The skorcha is worth considering but deff dreds really don't need to shoot up light infantry before they assault them. Taking running and bs2 into consideration i think they only sensible load out is 2 cc weapons, plus they look a lot cooler that way.

My Deffdread uses 4 CC weapons, wich is really good in CC. 6 S10 attacks no armor save is great against termies and tanks, and the strength and no armor save can easily take out HQs. I run a squad of thirty Boyz infront of i, which gives it a 4+(?) cover save, so its hard to shoot at. Also, Orks arnt really good at ranged attacks anyway, and I have Kanz that can shoot. No need for a single BS 2 shot that'll cost me 15 points when I can get a CC weapon that ignores armor and doubles strength.

Having more klaws also protects you from Weapon Destroyed results. Nobody is going to bother taking your big shootas off your Dread, they'll go straight for the klaws. A Deff Dread without klaws is effectively neutered - you want to last as long as possible before that happens.

A 4 CCW dredd is expensive, for an ork dredd, and is a huge 'shoot the cud out of that before it reaches the LR ' target.

I have one with 4 ccw, one with 3 and a skorcha and one with 2 skorcha.

If you keep a KFF close it may actually live to see CC, but it makes a decent (cheapish) distraction too

I run mine with 3 dccw and a scorcha; its dirt cheap, helps thin out hordes, ignores bs2, and he won't need to run if he's close enough to use it. Plus I love heavy flamers! This dread was man of the match last game vs SW; ran behind 2 BW with KFF to keep him safe before slamming in to enemy lines, flaming and slicing up GH squads, IDing Wolf Lords, it was a good time.

They never fail to reach combat if accompanied by mega and mekka dreads

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

3x DCCW and a Skorcha. Anything else is utterly wasted with BS2.

Killa Kans should be your mobile gun platforms. Give them KMBs, Rokkit Launchas or, ideally, Grotzookas and walk them up the field with a Deff Dred and KFF in a Battlewagon with Deff Rolla and some PK Nobz and you have an absolutely monsterous, shooty wall of S9-10 goodness which is harder'n hell to put down.

I like to keep mine cheap, and always take 2 bigshootas. Dreads seem to be the only unit I put bigshootas on that actually kill things. Not to mention if it is immobolized then it can still tag things, since the range on a bigshoota is pretty decent

i'm alone in this, but right now I use 2x rokkits with 2 CCW.

Even at bs 2, the rokkits allow him to stay with my 9x kans. when he gets in CC, the 4 attacks on the charge is pretty neat at WS4

I like 4x DCCW, for just over 100 pts you get a big load of hurt on the charge.

3x DCCW+ Scorcha is also good if you need to squeeze 10 pts for something else.

I want to try out 2x KMB for a themed Mek list, but I don't have high hopes for them.

I think DDs should have the option of taking a mini-SAG, maybe something that has 1D6+2 STR AP3 and a large blast template with suitable wonkey mishap chart (takes up 2 weapon choices).

Mine is 3 DCCW and a Skorcha.

Probably helps that a common battle for me is Orks v Orks, which can make that Skorcha invaluable just before a charge.

I run 3 normally with my 6 kanz.
2x Rokkits
2x KMB
2x Big shootas

The 4 CCW or 3 CCW skorcha looks good on paper but never does anything if you opponent is knows what he's doing. A smart opponent will avoid the slow dread so he wont get a good shot with the skorcha or immobalize it and ignore it.

Remember 2 xBS 2 shots is about equal to BS 3. So the rokkits and KMB have about a 50% chance for one of them to hit. And, hey you may get lucky and hit with both. And you might be able to blast open a transport then assault the juicy inards that fall out, cant do that with a skorcha to great effect.

Orks already have anti infantry with the number of attacks in CC or lots of shpts with shootas. We dont need more. What we do need is as many anti arnor str - 8 shots as we can get.
