So I just got moved out to Comox/Courtenay/Lazo, about an hour and a half north of Nanaimo, and so far I haven't found a single hobby shop or even hints of a club anywhere, let alone any gamers. I was wondering if there are any gamers in this area or will I have to look at Nanaimo or even Victoria to satisfy my wargaming needs?

There is only one store in the valley that sells GW products, that is ABC Books and Inner Sanctum on 5th street and their in store stock is extremely limited. I just decided to get back into wargaming myself and would very much be interested in finding a group nearby so I can dust off the good 'ol space marines and show people why they are so feared.

I haven't heard so much of a whisper about a club here, but I live on the base, so if you're ever willing to have a game or grab a drink and discuss the finer points of how awesome the emperor is, send me a message.

Any use trying to resurrect this thread? I'm pretty new to the Valley and am interested in getting back into wargaming.

Well, thread is pretty old now, and unfortunately I've been out of Comox now for 6 months.

Closest place I found was Drop Zone games in Nanaimo, but its kind of a pain to drive down and back every time I want a game.

Oh, and there's a GW in Victoria.

loooong time since I saw post in this thread... if you go to abc books on 5th st the guy who owns the place knows of a group thaat plays in the valley, I decided not to play because I don't know how anymore and I really wanted to get better at the hobby side of things.

I think ABC Books has closed shop since your original post. Thanks for the suggestion though.

yeah I just found that out myself haha. I wish i could help but even the guys down in Nanaimo don't seem to know of any groups that play here in the valley, I last played way back in the 3rd edition days so my knowledge of rules and gameplay for the latest editions are hazy at best and I don't thinik any list I could put together would contend with current gameplay.

Some thread re-necro: there's a few of us here who are playing WarmaHordes, and I could introduce you to at least one WHFB player. I know there are 40K players, but have no idea who they are. Will send a PM too.

Good to see this thread revive itself once in a while... there is still hope for gaming in this valley yet.
Fire me off a PM if you're looking to expand your group. I don't currently play warmahordes but it is something I wouldn't mind getting into.

ABC books has closed down. However, Games and Grounds has taken up the slack. It's on Puntledge Rd (across the street from the Lewis Centre) as of Dec 2014, there's currently a standard 40K gaming night on Wednesdays, and a Kill team gaming night on Thrusdays. Otherwise it's a good place to hook up with people to organize games or paint.
