Subject: Dr. Goatlove or how I learned to stop worring and love the Minobus. 4000 p.

I've been on a losing streak with my Beastmen for a while now, and it's about time that I brought some changes to my game.
I think that because I've been playing 'The Beastmen List' for so long, many of my opponents have gotten wise to the build.
Normally I would never use a Minobus, I think that it is too expensive to justify its use and when it really works the word 'cheese' comes to mind.
Regardless I've spend a couple of days convincing myself that it's ok for Beastmen to use every bit of cheese, they can shake out of the army.
I've been advising against the use of minotaurs for a while, but you can't deny true love, and I really only need a half-baked excuse to field them, (plus I'm one of those weirdoes that actually like the models). So this 4000 p game I have coming up in 14 days seems the perfect opportunity to finally try out the Minobus. I've never really tried it, so the list contains a lot of jabs and punches, but no strong magic.
Lords:
Doombull: Talis of pres, Sword of s. slaying, Ramhorn helm, Uncanny senses, Shield, Ha 348
Beastlord: Crown of command, Armour of destiny, Sword of battle, Shield (old habits die hard) 243
Heroes:
Gorebull: Bsb, Gnarled hide, Banner of swiftness, Ha, Shield 227
Gorebull: Blackened plate, Gold sigil sword, Ironcurse icon, Shield 204
Bray Shaman: Lvl 2, L.o. Beast, dispel scroll, Ahw 137
Bray Shaman: Lvl 2, L.o. beast, Chalice of dark rain, Ahw 152
Core:
2*7 Ungor Raiders, Musician 90
2*7 Ungor Raiders, Musician (ambush) 90
2*6 Warhounds 72
2*35 Ungors, Fcm 380
26 Ungors, Fcm 145
49 Gors, Ahw, Fcm 417
15 Gors, Ahw, Musician (ambush) 125
Special:
49 Bestigors, Fcm, Banner of discipline 633
6 Minotaurs, Fcm, Shield 404
2*6 Harpies, Scout 168
3*1 Razorgor 165
Total: 4000
The beastlord is going with the Bestigors down the center. The horde of Gors is taking the Shaman, with the Chalice, to the left of the Bestigors. I plan on running the Minobus to the right of the Bestigors, with the 26 Ungors (acting as a bunker for my other shaman) running up behind them. The Minobus also gets one Razorgor to run down any they leave alive.
To protect my flanks I have the two units of 35 Ungors. My Ungor Raiders will be screening my Gors and Bestigors. Chaff will of course be hunting war machines and wizards. I'm hoping that the ambushers will cause some confusion, and perhaps pose enough of a threat to draw fire away from the Minobus, although I doubt it.
The Bus:
As I said I have little to no experience with a fully pumped Minobus. But from what I can gather the command group walks in the front, when on the march, to take any cannonballs for the Doom/Gorebulls. But when it hits combat the charecters make way to the front forcing the opponent to allocate hits on the more survivable models. They also make their attacks with a high In. or even ASF.
I actually am a bit unsure if such a thing is even legal, I would think that the command (if alive) always have to be in the front. If anybody knows if it's ok to 'make way' the command to the second rank or not please tell me.
I'm hoping that the banner of swiftness will allow me to get a second turn charge and then start sawing throug units.
I went for shields on my minos since they will, if all goes well, only be making supporting attacks. Also because if there is one thing Minos does better than killing it's dying, and a couple of volleys can really hurt them.
I know that this seems like a huge overkill, but I figured that if it's worth doing it's worth overdoing. Plus if all else fails, it's a great joke to put in 1000+ points to justify Minotaurs.

I Think You're right, I must have misunderstood the concept. But to be sure I better read up on it until the game.
In any case it's as easy as removing an Ungor and add another piglet.
I might go shadow on one shaman in the end, but with 2 lvl 2 I'm really only looking for the utility in the signature spells. At a 4000 point game I expect to meet some strong magic, so will be happy getting a minor spell off now and again.

Yup, as per the last FAQ Chaos Gifts aren't prohibited to a BSB with a magic banner, just magic items.

Yes. It's a common build to give the beastman Bsb Ha, Shield, gnarled hide and a magic banner for a 2+ AS.
It's a mutation and therefore not a magic item

I still can't believe you're playing 4k points and not taking a horde of Minos. Just think of it! 15 minos, doombull and two gorebulls? Fun fun fun.
Also, you can put your characters in the second rank, as the FC must occupy the front rank if possible. Since you are only three wide, the entire front rank is the command group...as far as making way, page 100 says that you can replace rank-and-file models including the command squad. So, it looks like it's legal.

Interresting. Just looked it over and it does seem legal enough. But to show sportsmanship I think I will let my opponent decide, since I think it is borderline rule abuse.
Tell you what, if this one goes down well I'll promise you that next time I will go horde.
