I just got the first Omnibus for the Gaunt's Ghosts series and looking on wikipedia it says that the short stories aren't in chronological order. What order are they in then in the book? By order of their original publishing? Also if I were to read the stories in chronological order what would that order be?

Last question is which way should I read them? As presented in the book or chronologically? Thanks!

Read them as presented in the book.
The short stories are supposed to introduce you to the characters to start with.

Sorry for not replying earlier, but thanks! I thought maybe the short stories would make more sense if read in chronological order, but if they are meant to introduce the characters then the book's presentation sounds good to me!

i do understand the problem, ive read the first omnibus in the presented order, and with 2 & 1 swapped around

i think it works better as 2,1,3

Oh thats interesting. Im about to recieve The Lost omnibus from our good friend eBay, having just finished The Saint, but maybe I should read through The Founding first?

ah, i actually meant the books 1 2 3 that make up the founding, read the omnibusses in order other wise it ruins parts, but for the founding read that as ghostmaker, first and only then necropolis, this is of course my personal opinion however, as i'm sure there is a good reason for the intended order

Oh I see. Haha that makes sense. I've always wondered why Ghostmaker wasn't first as its one of the best introductory methods in a novel I've ever seen.

yeah, its weird having a chapter where you get all these names thrown at you, then get them explained in the next chapter
