Well, I'm currently working att fixing my IG force so that they all look alike and have the same uniforms and so on. I'm about 30% done, and here's a snapshot on how the guardsmen will look like.

As for the vehicles there is 2 camo-schemes: And for those with a little range (36" plus on all weapons) and for the ambush-tanks (weapons with less than 36" in range)



Guardsman camies. I know, the bolter isn't done, but then it wasnt the highest priority.


Ranged vehicle camo-scheme. The idea behind is open fields with green grass/yellow grass/sand.


And for last the ambush camouflage. This tanks is still a low-priority WIP, so everthing ain't perfect about it. Although I'm working on a LR Punisher for the moment that will use this scheme.

Very nice painting (love the blood on the arm =) ). The pose of the guardsman is a little bit... unreal though - it will be less painful for him to lie on his healthy arm!

I that the guardsman has been shot and has been downed, he isn't on his unhealthy arm by choice, looks great! I expect more pictures ;P The only thing I would ammend would the fact the red on the tank looks a bit clean, it stands out, you have mad the tank tracks really muddy, I think that perhaps the bull ram on the front (At least the bottom) would be caked in mud, if not just a little dirty.

wether the pose is unreal it aint the poor blokes fault rather than GWs, its the 'old' metal casualty from Cadian HQ

Yes, it's the metal-guardsman from the old commandsquad, but IMO it's a great mini.
About the red on the tank: I have actually forgot it was there, but I'll fix it up when I'm tired of the punisher this weekend =)

And well, those tanks is made dirty with washes, and when I bought a sentinel a while ago I wanted it to look real crisp, straight out of tha factory, and I think I made it:

There's still some work to be done on it, but I'm to lazy to fix them right away!

My newest addition; a scout sentinel!

For this one I was tired on the fixed placement of the weapons, to move the gun you'll have to move the whole sentinel around. Not a great idea (believe me, the Swedish army tried on a MBT..).

So, here he is!



Please note that I still have some (a lot) of work to be done, but I recon he will be finished next week.

Well, I'm on my 4 rare weeks of vacation, and week 2 and 3 just rained away, so I got some work done, mostly on my manticore. It's still a bit of work left on it, but I'm pleased so far.



And my punisher... Many here hate the model in game, but I'm satisfied. It's a moving massacre waiting to happen. It's a very big WIP, because I decided to give it the same camouflage as the rest of the tanks. SO, back to the beginning with it. Although, I'm pleased with the weapons-rack behind the HB sponson.

The tank camo looks great. Nice job.

A quick update: The punisher (oh so hated) and the manticore hade some work on them.Highlightling on the manticore and base-colours on the punisher.

And for the rest of my tanks I got tired of the dirty colours (completely washed in devlan mud...) and gave them a fresh layer! Atleast of the green, I haven't got to the beige yet.

To Take your tanks etc to the next level try adding some battle damage,Chipped paint,bullet holes etc.Plus some mud and grime.you will be gold!

Well, for the battle damage I'm actually about to take some references on my vehicle at work (yes, I'm an army man that doesn't tire of work).

And one thing that I have noticed on the chipping that many paint is that it is far to bright! Mostly tanks have an undercoat (ours is, for some mysterios reason, red) and when that is eventually chipped of the armour tends to rust in just a day or 2. So when I have time (and is home) I'll try some colours for the undercoating.

But for the battle damage and mud and dirt, well, I'll have some techniques to try before I do anything that'll ruin the tanks.

On the manticore I detected that it was a mistake to glue the hatch. Now, I can't have the missiles placed while the rack is in the bottom option. It was never my intention to glue them, so it's not a BIG failure. Just a small one.

The reason that I decided to have the hatch open to begin with was to show the interior and the driver/gunner/missile operator or what ever you want to call him and the inside. The crewman is done, took about 2 hours to make him stand out. Pics will come this weekend, doesn't have any pics here.
And the inside, well, you'll have to wait for pics in that until I feel satisfied.

If you have any tips on how to make mud look real I would appriciate them! I was thinking on some kind of plaster, but didn't get around to try it.

So, finally had the time to paint and post! Lots of things going on, including touching up the paint job on all tanks, a new chimera, 10 karskin, 11-ish ratlings,11-ish steel legion and 4 new tanks and 2 sentinels is on the way. Much to do, not enough time...

Wellwell, this is what I've been working on the last few weekends:


A lot done on the manticore, including extensive highlights and some work on the gunner. Plus, I got tired of the old,ugly HF, so I built my own.


Found some bits laying around, and it became a second CCS! I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out, even though they ain't done.


And a WIP-pic on a infantry-squad in the same fatigues.

Still got some work on the manticore, mostly weathering.

Ok, I'm spaming my own thread right now, and I don't like it when others do it, and even hate it when I do it...

But!

I need/want some critique on especially the last guardsmen. For the weathering on the tanks, well, that will come. Will do some this weekend and post so that I can improve on that to...

I know that the last pic is dark (darker than I thought) but it's basically the same scheme as with the "CCS" as I call them...

So, people, dakkas, please! Some critique! I want to improve, and every small tip is helping me a lot!

Well, I've been painting again, finally! Got some Karskins a couple of weeks ago, and I finally got some paint on them! For gameplay I will use them as stormtroopers.

First out, the sergeant. He's almost done, there's some fix-ups here and there, but I think they will be done next weekend. My biggest worry is the eyes, should I paint them or not? I'm awfully bad at painting eyes, and I'm afraid I will ruin the model.





Next, the first trooper. Still a lot to do, plus that a buddy dropped him so some paint have been chipped of at the muzzle.




And finally, a mini diorama in the earliest stages.

Well, I've been painting a lot of my guardsmen, mostly HW-teams in the latest time, I haven't although taken any pics (and won't have the possibility for about two weeks, sorry for that).

Mostly it's been some speedpainting to get as much as possibily to look alright for a tournament that our local gaming community held today. To my big surprise, my guardsmen won the day, slaying chaos marines and eldars alike.
Many participants is actually members here on dakka, and I would recommend you take a look on Q0rbins work. It look awesome on his pics, but much more so IRL.

What do you use for CCS 'Swashbucklers'? which kits do you take swords from?

Lone Cat: That's right. To get the swords looking good wasn't difficult, the ordinary cadian box supplies a lot of arms that might hold a sword if you're prepared to put only a few minutes at it! For the moment I'm thinking about to give the CCS the shields from the Freikorps to. Any thoughts?
Oh, and worth noticing, the main guy got the big, two-handed sword from the pack. Strong guy.

But, oh well, time to show what I've been up to:


The scout sentinel that was unfinished earlier found a place as the perfect weathering-tester. Mostly I'm trying to get the rust on my vehicles right for the moment. I don't feel very satisfied with this result as a mater of fact.



The new guys, the HWT, one of six teams fitted with lascannons. I learned a lot of new techniques while painting those boys, and they turned out (atleast in my own opinion) great.


And, last but not least, my mini-diorama. The hardest thing about these guys was to find a laughing/smiling head for a guardsman. I've found one. A catachan head. Works alright though.

Well, that was that, and with some luck I might to give you a few pics of an CC that I'm building from odd pieces, scratch and green stuff. My first real try, so I don't expect a miracle.

So, I have decided to change the idea in this blog a bit. Instead of just showing half-done projekts I'm gonna start to show the process of them from the start to the end.
I'm actually gonna start with a small tutorial on how to paint my new vehicle-camo.


I start with painting the entire vehicle with Catachan Green. A great, almost olive green colour that I probably use to much.


After the first layer it's time for the pattern. I've decided to give splinter-camo a new go. I've tried it many times before, and failed. The trick is to paint the outlines as straight as possible (surprise surprise) and get the fields in a decent size. IF there is some lines that doesn't look great, it's simple to just fix it by either making the field bigger or paint over that line with another colour.
Usually I make 3 outlines at a time; This gives me the possibility to see ow it will look later on when the fields have the right colours and I also have a place to start for the next outlines.


The third step is, when I've drawn three outlines as I mentioned above, to fill the fields. Thin layers, and many of them, is the way to go.

The fourth step (no pics, sorry) is to use washes on the fields. I use Thraka Green for the green fields, and Devlan mud for the brown and black areas.
Step five is to drybrush. If you're careful enough you can use a brighter colour without any problems.

In the end, before battle-damage and weathering, it might look like this:

I was not careful enough on the lighter green area, and it's showing. But, overall, I'm pleased with the result.


And for the current project: I'm trying to make great-coats for my cadians, and it's proving both easier and harder than I thought at first.

This is how it looks in this early stage, and it looks more like he's wearing puffy pants. I might have to cut away his pockets in another stage, but at the moment I will finish this coat and see how it looks.

Well, that was that, I will come with an update on the Cadian great-coat next week!

Interesting work on the greatcoats. The splinter camo looks good masking tape might help to keep the lines straight. The infantry looks reasonable as well.

Well, I finally got the long awaited package! For about 80 US $ I got 10 ratlings, 12 steel legion, 2 commisars, 1 LR demolisher, 1 LRBT, 1 griffon and 1 chimera! I will post some pics of them first thing tomorrow. There's some work need to be done on some of them, but most of them is painted (awefully, yes, but still).

And a pic will be posted on the great-coat project!

And for last, a question: Do anyone know how the SM scout frame looks? Is the arms, bodies and legs separate? I have them in mind for yet another project.

My ratlings, all ten of them! When i got them 3 was not painted yet, so I decided to give it a try. You can quite easily see the difference between them (the three furthest on the right in the first row) and the old ones.


The two commisars. I will repaint them, one day. For the moment I want to get everything else painted and done. Or I might just get bored and paint them.


The steel legion. Also a bunch that will get a re-painting one day.


My 2 sentinels. The armoured one is the old model in metal, and thus it has the balance of. The scout-model is loose in one of the legs, yet another thing I need to fix.


My new chimera, number 6 in my army for now. I see a lot of potential in this one after some cleaning.


LRBT. Not much more to be said...


...exept for this. A metal commander that looks more like a commisar than anything else. My thought is to let him be commander Pask. But does somebody know what model he really is?


And a poorly painted LR demolisher that the previous owner started to strip.


So, that's it. I forgot the pics on the griffon and the great-coat project, but they will get posted later this day (I hope).
Keep in mind that these models were painted over 10 years ago by a friend of mine, and well, we were young back then. To young to care about the result.

So, I got some painting done on some of my new models, hope you like it:

The new chimera. I IMHO the paintjob is a big improvement. To see how it looked before, just take a look in my previous post.

So, I looked through the codex and found that Harker could be a wise idea to get into a vet-squad. I am, although, not into the real model of him, plus that most of my models is cadians. So, what to do? I got to the bit box and GS, and this was the result:


The unpainted Mr. Harker. The basic idea is that in the Cadian world the guy with the most gear when he dies win.


And the result. Still need to fix the base and some highlights. His glasses is although a small problem: I don't know if I should keep 'em black or paint them red or blue?
