Just got my new Game Informer Mag, and I got to say, I thought Darksiders was kind of "Meh", artistically. This one is leagues ahead, In My Humble Opinion.
Details:
You play as Death, Second Rider of the Appocolypse.
Death is a lightweight compared to War; He cannot Block, only Dodge.
The Game World is more Legend of Zelda, with a wide open world instead of it being sectioned off.
You start the game with Despair, your Horse.
Confirmed weapons are a giant hammer and Twin Scythes that can be combined into one giant one.
You hav a Crow Familiar that acts as the Watcher did.
You find and equip loot to customize Death.
The entire game takes place in the Underworld.
Story Details:
Taking place at the same time as Darksiders, Death hears of his brother's sentencing and knows that because "War is the type who wouldn't cross the Street unless he was at a Crosswalk", he is being framed. As such, Death defies the Council and rides out to do two things: Find and Punish the one setting War up, and try to restore the Human Race.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Well, I definitely loved the first one and am really looking forward to the new one. The only problem means that the cliff hanger from the first one won't be resolved.. until the third one comes out 5 years from now.
Maybe you hang out with immature women. Maybe you're attracted to immature women because you think they'll let you shpadoink them.

As an avid reader of Revelation, I just have to say that last bit makes me giggle on the inside. Heck, Death trying to restore the human race is enough to make me giggle
Never got around to doing Darksiders. I heard it was a lot like LoZ meets DMC.

Yeah, but with two of the Horsemen made out to be playable, and the other two have concept arts and everything.....
I'm willing to wait

I get the Death trying to restore the Human race part, but I don't know, I feel like I'm missing something with the first part.
I haven't played the first either, since a friend of mine bought it, lent it to my brother, and my brother never got around to finishing it. But I got a free month of Gamefly, I can get it along with Duke nukem, Two Worlds II, and something else.

Might rent the first so i cna understand the second one...
Playing as Death seems far more badass than playing as War...

The Horsemen are the last of the Nephilim Race, and Death is supposed to be a major cause of the "Last of the Race" part. Part of his character is that he knows he could bring his race back instead of Humanity, and so he is struggling between saving his brothers honor and redeeming himself.
Edit: You know how Darksiders was criticized for being a mash up of many different games? Darksiders II is continuing the trend with Wall Running (Prince of Persia style) and the Ghost Hook, which is useful to bring smaller enemies to you, you to larger enemies, and help in environmental puzzles/platforming (A La Nero's Devil Bringer from Devil May Cry 4)
