I went to my local hobby shop and bought some CSM raptors just for the hell of it iv used them in 3 battles so far against the eldar, tau, and space marines and everytime they have done nothing I was wondering if anyone can help me out with some strategy for them. I have herd that there just a waste of points and was wondering if this is true?

I'm not sure how different they are from SM Assault squads. I never have noticed a difference with them when i play against CSM. But with my Assault squads, i take 2 of them.

Now remember im speaking from SM point of view so idk how much this helps

1. Because i can have 10 man squads (Not sure about CSM)
2. Flamers, I can take up to 2 flamers per squad.
3. Deep strike, I know raptors can deep strike, iv seen it done. Which is all Assault squads and Raptors are really good for, Deep strike in, then next turn get into your opponents face with hand to hand and yea.

Units with jump packs only move 12in so once they have deep striked, yea they can move pretty far. But look at them. 3+ armor save. They are going to die, mind as well get use to it, and arm them with weapons that will cause the most kills for you. Then get into your enemy's face.

Hope it helps a little.

I don't like to DS my Raptors.

I run a 5man squad, with LC champ, flamer/melta and IoK.

They are a suicide squad and I just run them up behind my Rhinos for cover and assault whatever I know I can kill in one assault phase.

Very usefull for 5man SM squads. But as said: They are going to die. That's why I just use them to disrupt enemy tactics.

Fortune may favour the brave, but Khorne favours me!!!

Iv got a 5 man raptor squad on the go, which funnily botched up the 1st game I played. They DSed into an enemy squad and got destroyed.... There goes 120 points....

The thing with raptors is to DS them behind enemy tanks and blow them to pieces, IE meltaguns. Failing that then DS behind them and blast infantry. It really depends on the game type though. Usually destroying a tank is always fun though haha.

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

Use them to kill tanks, or otherwise put a Lord with wings in the unit with them and kill some infantry.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

I deck mine with meltas, mark of Tzeentch, and a champion with a powerfist. I then use them as a mobile distraction, cover wall, and a Greater Daemon delivery service.
