I'm thinking of starting a chaos demons army that I can alternate between fantasy and 40k. One of the units im interested in fielding is the fiend of slanesh but I think the models (at least in the pictures on GW's website) look like crap. Also I would probably field alot of them and they seem pretty expensive. I was wondering if there was a different model (in either 40k, fantasy or possibly LOTR) that I could count as fiends of slanesh that is approximately the same size and definitely on the same base that is also preferably better looking, plastic or cheaper. The tournaments around here allow models to sub in for other models as long as its consistent, WYSIWYG and a GW product.

I was thinking chaos spawn would give me slightly more bang for my buck but im not sure they're the same size. Any ideas?

Spawn are a good alternative, however tournament players may get a bit excited as they are slightly shorter models thus giving yourself a modelling advantage for true LOS.

I've seen some good conversions using WHFB goblin spiders with daemonettes mounted on top.

I currently have 12 of the GW metal models - and lemme' tell you, they are such a piss around, like 9 metal parts each, they break easily, my brain is hurting just thinking about them.
I assume they'll come out in finecast at some stage.

Even finecast doesn't get me to excited about them. I really hate the way they look.

Yup theyre pretty ugly, but there so good in terms of rules etc.

I saw an awesome conversion at warhammer world where someone had stuck the front of a rohan horse to the back of a seeker with a daemonette body where the neck should be and a seeker head on top of the bodey......it looked like an ant eater ^^ I'll be making some at some point so I'll post pics
