So we have brand new Razorwing Jetfighters at hand.
Would you use them in competitve play and how?

Yes and not just because of the beautiful model. I'd recommend them alongside 2 Dark Lance Ravagers personally, alongside other anti-tank contained elsewhere in the list (e.g. Haywires, Blaster-born, Raiders etc.).

If you have 1 Razorwing with 2 Ravagers, then the Ravagers can act as the more dependable anti-tank and target-saturation, whilst the Razorwing arrives from reserves and unloads all of its (free/base) missiles at a single target, continuing the rest of the game taking shots at enemy tanks with its own lances.
The missiles should be able to decimate a target, whilst afterwards the Razorwing shouldn't really be a priority target and therefore can continue attacking enemy tanks etc.

Just my thoughts anyways.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

3 of them, naked is fine but Nightshields are nice (and definitely worth it on them because they have 48" range) and maybe a couple of upgraded missiles. The Dark Lances are fine but in some cases it can be nice putting Disintegrator on them for a full anti infantry loadout, depends on the rest of your list really. In a list with enough long ranged anti tank they are pretty scary, if you have the first turn and your opponent is mostly foot based (or there are some obvious targets like Long Fangs) then deploy them and remove stuff you don't like first turn. Otherwise I would probably reserve them and let the rest of your anti tank open some transports up for you so you can drop the pie plates on them when you arrive.

They're nice but in a recent tournament I played against them and they didn't kill many and I ripped through them with my Avatar

I've used mine exactly once, and it performed pretty well, killing a razorback, and 3 deathcompany guys behind it (was in rhino following behind, and rhino popped first) The funny part was I only used 2 missiles, 1 monoscythe and one shatterfield. The lances did squat against armor, but the shatterfield rolled a 6 on result (resulting in wreck), and the monoscythe landed on deathcompany after scatter, killing 3 (unlucky saves, but it does happen). Ran out of time to fire it more (large game, and store was closing, and it didn't come in until late).

I think they can be competitive, with only 2 lances and slightly lower armor they don't have the point per point anti tank that ravagers have, but they get tons of shots that one turn, and they can take out light vehicles and infantry reliably. I would say 1850+ its possible to make room for them over ravagers. Either 2 ravs and 1 razor, or 2 razors and 1 rav (or 2-3 razors and no rav honesly, if you have enough other lances).

I don't see any reason to take this over a Ravager unless your army really lacks anti-infantry elsewhere ... but I find that hard to beleive.

So it's 40 more points for an AV 10 vehicle with one fewer lance than the ravager just four a couple of missiles that you probably don't really need anyway.

Yes the model is very cool, but competatively I would never take it

I have a friend who scratch-built his own when the codex dropped. Having played against it for a few months now I have to say it is an effective unit but only when you take 1 and 2 ravagers. Generally the Razorwing should be in reserve, as per the first poster. The missiles are what you're really getting with this unit not the lances.
