Hey all, this is my first competitive list for 2500. I usually don't have to play this many point games (Usually around 1500-2000) so I had plenty of room to work with.
I like to bring tanks, their my favorite thing and I soon hope to be running an armoured company. (Not quite there yet)
This list is supposed to be able to hold/contest enough objectives (With Platoon) while dealing a lot of damage (Leman Russ's).
I'm worried that I may not have enough anti-tank for this big of a game. This will be my first time fielding 2 Vandetta's in a list and I'm hoping for the best.

As you can see I have an additional 55 points to put into things. Infantry squads 2 and 3 will be in the vandettas and 4 will be in the back with the heavy weapon teams.
I know a lot of people steer away from pouring so many points into heavy support but it's what I have.
I'm open to questions, comments, and concerns for this list for my last 55 points or changes. (I'm all out of Chimeras so I was thinking Infantry Squad upgrades)

I'd drop the extra armor to free up more points. Especially the extra armor on the squadrons of tanks, since being in a squadron gives you the equivalent of extra armor.

I'd also think about dropping Pask too, since he generally isn't worth the points.

You mentioned not having any chimera's to add to the list, what exactly do you have that you could potentially add? It seems to me that without Pask and the extra armor, you'd have quite a few points to spend and could add a few more units to the list.

Well, I have a squad of armored sentinels with a plasma cannon and 2 HFs. I've also got another vet squad (With no ride) some storm troopers and a hand full ratlings. I've got a few special weapons laying around for the infantry squads too. I wasn't sure if I should give them vox's or not, whenever I use them they aren't needed.

Hmmm... so the major problem seems to be that you're trying to fill a 2500 pt list with around 1750-2000 points worth of army. You can probably pad the list to make it to 2500, but it's probably not going to be horribly competitive with the other lists out there. As long as you're just looking to have fun, any list should work out fine.

A couple of armored sentinels might be nice to hang back and cover weak rear armor.

I'd probably opt out of the vox.

A couple squads of suicide storm troopers might be worthwhile. Give them meltas or plamsa guns and have them drop in behind enemy lines and take out enemy tanks.

Rattlings probably wont do much, but a couple 30pt squads probably pay for themselves if they take any fire from the enemy.

I agree with thatguyoverthere on all points. If you want to run competitive at this point level with IG, you need to have a bit more min max going on. If you’re a good player and your real lucky you may be able to slip this through a qualifier but once you hit the big lists you are going to have a very very hard time.

I run 11 chimeras in my ard’ boyz, and I need every single one of them. You cam get away with less but you will need to blob up you IS, (TBH at this point level that may not even be enough)

But yea, scale it down to 2000 and you have a nice list. If you want to run this in ard’ boyz work in some ST squads, there you can normally get them cheep cost and point wise. As well dump every GL in your list, if a unit can only have one weapon give them melta or plasma. If it has a BS of 4 give it melta or plasma. Really the only exception to melta/ plasma is the PCS where you can run flamers if you want.

As well squading up Russ makes you big guns way to easy to kill, I understand that you need them for the point, but as you grow your IG, you will want to weed those out.

I don’t normally like sentinels, but with out other options I would work them in. there still powerful but the dogs and birds are just so OP it leaves them in the shadows.

Pask..Pask..Pask I like pask he is far from min maxed but if you need to fill points he isn’t a bad option. Vanquisher isn’t a bad place to put him with a las. I’ve had some luck with a punisher with HB sponsons and a stubber, plasma doesn’t really fit well with a punisher cannon. The LRBT on the other hand can work well with plasma cannons, if you an switch that up I would.

Put the other vets in the chimera that the infantry squad is riding in.

Blob up those infantry squads, add some special weapons, power swords, commissar and priest. As it currently stands they are doing nothing.

Stormies can be a good DS unit, possibly with meltas. 30 points for the ratlings is pretty cheap for a chance to pin something. Sentinels with HF can certainly flank the infantry blob and give it some cover.

Trim the excess goodies to pay for the above ...

Wish you had better weapons on those HF Sentinals, like ACs. Magnets are your friend! Makes them heck of alot more versitial.

But Yeah, I have to agree with Rum. Put Vets and CSs in Chimeras and blob the rest. Use the Ratlings for what they do best... dropping MCs. Other than that know they are limited against other roles, but with 2500pts, you have room for them.

I am not a fan of sponsons, as I want my LRBTs moving forward supporting my Chimeras. 2/3s of the games are objectives, meaning you will have to move forward to take or contest objectives from your opponents while defending your own.

I also want you to realise your /very/ light on troops for a 2500pt IG list, as you have 2 Vet squads and 4 PISs that you want to blob into one or two blobs. THe two HWSs and the PCS are both scoring, giving you a total of 6-7 scoring units... people can beat you by killing your troops. Heck, that is light for a 1500pt list!

If you want to expand your Guard, you need boots, alot more boots.

Good luck, but look at playing smaller point games till you can get more troops and possible Chimeras to go with them (like say if you go for a vet list).
