Okay, so I haven't used a Terminator Command Squad yet, for one big reason: I can't figure out how to make the most of the unit! Here is what I mean: there are options for terminator standard bearers in the wargear section, but there is no point-option to buy a standard for a terminator, let alone access to the armory (except the sergeant-who usually isn't a SB). The only theory I have, is on the opposite page, under the traditional command squad, they mention that specialized units that have terminator honours can purchase options from the armory. Is that how to get the Standard? Give the terminators special skills, buy terminator honours and then buy the standard/other wargear? I've poured over every page in the rules section of the codex and I'm still baffled. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, there is no way to have a Terminator Standard Bearer.

The specialists in the regular COmmand Squad can access the armoury if they have Terminator Honours, but can't take Terminator Armour as it doesn't have a points cost for single-wound models to take it.

Presumably the 'T' next to the standard is an oversight.

Hmmm, sounds like it's time for me to send GW a call tomorrow and ask for an errata/FAQ to give termies access to it. Putting it as an option (and a picture!!) in the book and saying it's not allowed is very poor editting. Thanks Insaniak, I'll post what the GW customer rep tells me tomorrow.

Not to be that guy...but it doesn't matter what the GW customer rep tells you tomorrow. I could call them in two days and get an entirely contradictory answer. GW customer reps are infamous for their inaccuracy and inconsistency. Phone calls to GW customer support are not a valid source of rules on this board.

Yup. It's basically dicing off with your phone. There probably is an app that does it faster than GW.

Sigh, if you took the time read my full post, I said I was going to ask them for an Errata/FAQ it-which would mean when I also said I'd "post my results here," I'd be telling what they said they were going to do about it. Either way, even if they give me only vocal clarification, that would work well enough for my gaming group: they wouldn't care (even if the rest of the world would throw a hissy fit). I understand customer support is not the be-all, end-all of rules interpretation-- but try to read my full post before being that guy. I specifically stated about asking on the possibilities of an errata/FAQ to this issue.

The US helpline has nothing to do with the people that produce the Errata / FAQ, so theyre unlikely to say anything. They may just say anything to get you off the line ad back to box packing...

Hey, I promised to post the response that I got: there was no guarantee of an errata, but the customer service representative pointed out that a Terminator Command Squad Sergeant could access the armory and that enabled the squad (the Sergeant, specifically) to gain access to a banner (becoming the Standard Bearer). I guess for home games, it's up to the discretion of the players, or a TO in a tournament. So, no definite answer, but I got enough of an answer to use it in friendly home games.

And once again GW Customer Support proves that they can't read their own rules properly.

Right. I recognize the regular command squad requires you to pay 25 points to gain a standard bearer, who can then buy a different standard. I also understand having access to the armory doesn't give you access to EVERYTHING in the armory. This is just what was said, and as I replied, it's up to a TO (like anything in a tourney) or up to home rules. At my house/in my group it would be allowed without any problem (however you'd have to pay the 25 for the SB). Others it wouldn't. After all, my friend told me I could pay 30pts a bike to get bikes for my command squad and that I should field it. It's not legal in ANY regard in the book, but I was still told it's cool to do. So why not, if my friends offer for me to play it that way with them?

How could they possibly miss "Standard Bearer Only"?

"Hey, does anybody know if Terminator Command Squads can carry banners?"
"Dunno, don't they have a sergeant or something?"
"Think so..."
"Yeah, then that guy can carry it!"
"Let me check the codex..."
"HERSEY!"
"But..."
"ABHOR THE WITCH, DESTROY THE WITCH!"
"Fine, I'll go back to packing boxes..."
"For the Emperor!"

Like I said, I'd post what I heard and that was it. So...best I could do. Use your discretion. I asked him to try to put in a request for an Errata either saying it was illegal or saying how to access it. Whether anything is accomplished...who knows. But I tried. And my friends will roll with it. I don't do BT competitively anyway, just fun, so it isn't an issue. My Daemons are my competitive army.

Yeah, if it works for you, great. It's just frustrating that no one in that big company even thinks about taking a day off and creating an internal wiki/forum/ticket system to at least give everyone the same wrong answer... or even a right one!

Oh, believe me, I agree: "let's put an option in a book that doesn't work/have a model and assume people will figure it out on their own." It sucks. I'm just making the most of it. Also, you can deck that sergeant out to be a CC monster, as he has full access to the armory.
