OK, when you put a Chaos Lord in Terminator armour he gets a twin-linked bolter and a power weapon, the power weapon being one-handed and the bolter being two-handed, which is fine. However, if you upgrade the power-weapon to a Daemon Weapon, a Daemon Weapon is a two-handed weapon, which would mean that now the Lord has two two-handed weapons, which you can't do as far as I'm aware. What say you?

There is no such general rule in 40k, and no such rule exists in the Chaos codex

Youre thinking of a lot of 3rd edition codexes, which had restrictions on what you could carry.

Ahh, OK then, you're right I am thinking of the bit in the Witchhunters armoury where it says what you can carry, I just assumed that the restriction still applied.

It does still apply to codices that have that rule in them such as Codex Witch Hunters. However as Nos pointed out that rule was never in Codex Chaos Space Marines.
