If I buy a Camo Cloak for a Lord Commissar and attach him to any unit (say Veterans or an Infantry squad), would the whole unit benefit from Stealth, or just the Commissar?

Logically this seems like a silly question but I need to ask, and here's why:

The Camo Cloak states, "a model wearing a camo cloak has the stealth universal special rule."

The Stealth special rule reads, "all of the unit's cover saves are improved by +1."

Again, I acknowledge this may be a silly question but I was just evaluating whether or not the Lord Commissar and his options are appropriate for Ard Boyz and figured Dakka was the best place to field the question. Thanks either way, folks!

According to the most recent FAQ for the main Rule Book all it takes is a single model with Stealth to confer it to the squad.

Yeah, it makes Blob Squads nigh impossible to remove from a n objective with shooting alone.

I've started using this to my advantage in taking a Saga of the Hunter Wolf Priest, Rune Priest with Storm Caller and a Bunch of Terminators...mobile 4+ Cover on 10 Termies...enjoy!

Note that it doesn't actually confer Stealth to the squad... they benefit from it's effect, but don't have gain the Sealth rule themselves. It's practically the same thing... right up until the single model with Stealth dies.

but then killing a stealthy lord commissar is going to be A0 hard work, B) time consuming and C) a job for artillery

Yes, as it is written, the whole squad will get the save. Talk about not proof-reading prior to publishing.

I did tell one playing in our group that if he tries it with the commissar/cloak attached to a 50-man blob that I want to actually see it modeled with a 16" wide cloak.

Interesting, I would think that the cover save would have to be taken on the commisar alone since he is armed differently than the rest of the unit, you would have to allocate the dsave directly to him.

I guess you learn something new everyday, then.

I like the fluff they give it in the FAQ that the model with the cloak(and thus stealth) show's everyone else how/where to hide. Just tell the player doing it he has to act out the comm. placing each soldier to get the best cover.

What's even more hilarious is a Tomb Spyder that just 'birthed' a scarab swarm (tiny compared to the Spyder), and is suddenly far better at hiding it's big metallic butt due to advice from the scarabs it just created..

Maybe it is like the horrible Alec Baldwin movie 'The Shadow' where he has the great flowing cloak behind him and can go invisible/make others think things are invisible.

I enjoyed it, but then i like low budget horror and sci fi schlock too..

I figured it out, its obvious:

The camo cloak is really a cloak made of a material that gives off a flash-bang effect; anyone looking at the wearer (and nearby people he's chillin with) squint a little and miss more often than usual as a result.
