hi guys, getting back into war of the ring after I bought a few box stes of orcs and easterlings about 3 years ago and just wandering if this is a good list:

kamul the easterling

the dark marshal

the shadow lord

6 morian orc companies with shields 150

3 morian orc companies with shields 75

2 morian orc companies with shields 50

3 companies of warg riders with shieldsX2 180

2 companies of easterlings with pikesX2 160

the set up goes along the lines of:

the big block of morian orcs in the middle with my 3 nazgul up front and flanked by the other two units of morian orcs

in front of said orcs are the eastlings to fend off cavalry

and flanking these units are the warg riders that will try to flank my opponents army

soooooooo, did I do well for a first list TBH I think I need more bows but oh well lol

I play Mordor too. I have a couple of suggestions for you:

1. 3 Ringwraiths is too many for this points level. Of the three you have picked, I would take Khamul and the Dark Marshal. Alternatively, replace the marshal with the Dwimmerlaik.

2. Anything less than 3 companies dies really quickly to concentrated fire, even at defense 7. I recommend 4-5 companies of Morannon Orcs with shields. 5 companies will not die. 4 companies will do great if Khamul is with them.

3. With that being said, taking captains is a good idea, because people will duel your Ringwraiths, and you will use Epic Strike the first time, but after that they will die quite easily. If you take a captain and declare a heroic duel at the same time as your opponent, you have a chance of getting your duel first, which would mean that you might not have to risk losing the RW.

4. It now occurs to me that you said "Nazgul". Please remember that Nazgul are only "Hard to Kill", and die pretty easily if you face someone with bows. I would take them and place them in the blocks of orcs I mentioned a second ago.

5. Warg Riders do great against infantry, but not if there are only three companies. I would maybe make one formation of three companies of easterlings with pikes and two formations of 4 companies of warg riders. If you drop the Nazgul, you can take cpts and/or banner bearers for them so they can at the double and so they can make sure they get the charge.

6. As far as bows, all I have in my army are thrown weapons (Warg Riders and Trolls), and I do ok. I do have problems against armies that have bows and pathfinder, as they hide in trees and are hard to dislodge without taking casualties.

I couldnt decide between the marshal and the s lord so I took both but looking at it now I think the shadow lord is a bit unnecessary lol

thanks to swapping of a bag of bits I now have 14 companies of warg riders so I think I know what the shadow lord will be replaced with
