I don't really get the point, but I ignore them well enough.

I for one love the 'adopt one of my soldiers' posts. I prefer them to be individualized so I can know a little bit more, and I prefer ones that ask for background, but all in all I love them. If someone wants to go the extra mile to have a little flavor for his army, and wants some help from the community, I am more than willing to help. Honestly, if this sort of thing isn't exactly what an online resource for 40k players is about, then what is?

There is always going to be threads on the boards we don't like. We have to suffer through a 'Can Space Marines Have Sex?" thread on a weekly basis, and there are enough rambling threads consisting of nothing but typos and literary diarrhea to make an English teacher's head explode. The great part about the setup on Dakka is that if you don't want to read a thread, you don't have to click on it.

Of course, that's all just my opinion.
