You're only allowed to deploy two troops units..

Just two units.

A troop choice is not always a unit e.g a combat squad of space marines would count as your two troop units for DoW deployment.

I made this mistake a couple games ago and got informed by the rules guru at my FLGS. I was playing against daemons, so it really didn't effect anything too much; his preferred wave made it afield and decimated the platoon anyway.

As far as platoon infantry squads go(as above you cannot deploy a Platoon command squad, 2+ Infantry squads, HWS, Special weapon squads, Conscripts and any/all Chimeras purchased for the preceding), you can deploy combined squads of 2+ infantry squads; because that is still deploying 1 unit.

So a 30-man blob squad would be deploying 1 troops unit.

You could also choose to reserve everything and deploy nothing.
Or drop in a single 10man unit, let him deep-strike his deamons all around to eat it up, then you roll in on turn 1 with everything and decimate his intial force.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

I just dislike playing daemons in general. They jump out of nowhere and give me nothing to shoot at if I go first. Jerks...

You could also choose to not reserve anything, and yet not deploy anything; any units not reserved nor deployed come in on first turn.

Choose to go second if you can. But deamons are fairly easy to beat if you castle up and deploy correctly. The fact that they only have half the army on the board at the start (and often scattered about) with the rest coming in peace-meal makes targets prioritizing very easy and lets you torrent them with shooting for a full round before they can hit you.
