Subject: Rolling TL at the same time different odds then one at a time?

I have always assumed that the odds remain the same but a friend was told at a local store he plays at to roll separately when playing there. Is that just superstition on the part of those locals?

Mathmatically odds are the same assume a perfectly sterile environment (IE dice not bouncing off one another or other such uncontrolled random variables).
Yes, I'm being smarmy.

Rolling 2d6 one after another has exactly the same chance as rolling 2d6 all at once, since dice do not have any memory.

That being said, it does change things up if you're rolling multiple weapons together. In that situation, you need to be able to distinguish between the pairs of dice.

Oh, it's this again.
Rolling a D6 looking for at 4+ (for example),picking it up and re-rolling it (looking for a 4+) if it doesn't succeed the first time.....is exactly the same as rolling 2D6 and looking for a 4+ on either one.
This does not mean that firing two twin-linked weapons can be done by rolling 4D6, picking up any two successes and then claim that both weapons hit.
This ground really shouldn't need to be covered (and re-covered) time and time again.

It should also be noticed that you can only roll them at the same time for a single shot with a binary outcome. So Hit or Miss, Pass or Fail (Armour saves, etc). As soon as you introduce some other variable like Gets Hots then you have to know which dice was first and which second, which is too inconvenient to do rolling both dice at once.

Unless you have differently coloured dice, and nominate one as the first roll.

The reason you are supposed to roll them separate is take this example, an ork buggie with twin linked big shoota, it fires 3 shots, rerolling, As the orks have BS2 so needs 5+ to hit
so you roll 3 dice and get 456
you would then only roll 1 dice again.
whereas if you were to roll 6 dice, 3 at a time and get, 5,2,6 off the first roll then 5,6,4 off the second
How's his possibly? you cant have 4 hits only 3.( you have better odds of rolling a 5 or 6 off 3 dice than 1)

IronKlaw - yes, we know - that was already covered.
When you are firing multiple shot weaponry you MUST know which shot is which, and can be accomplished easily with different coloured dice.
