Subject: Random movement and difficult terrain

The new FAQ came up with something that's causing confusion. Pg 2
Q: What happens when a unit that moves a random distance enters or moves through difficult terrain? (p14)
A: Unless stated otherwise they are not slowed down and will move the full distance rolled. However they must still take Dangerous Terrain tests as normal.
All difficult terrain causes random movement so are they saying that all difficult terrain now requires a dangerous terrain test if you enter??
or
Does this ruling only effect units with Slow and Purposeful? Or units fleeing?
Either way (or neither way) it's horribly written.

No, they're clarifying how the two different random rolls work with each other. You just roll for the random movement and ignore the terrain effect. Does this ruling only effect units with Slow and Purposeful? Or units fleeing?
It will affect anyone with rules that affect their movement.

They are referring to Chaos spawn and similar units that normally move 2d6 in the movement phase instead of 6 inches. Slow and purposeful units are not affected by difficult terrain and will move as normal. Regular units that normally move 6 inches are not affected by this FaQ ruling.

It's not, you just seem to be misreading it in an odd way. It's saying that if a unit is subjected to random movement, it does not then have to roll again for the difficult terrain. However, if that terrain is also dangerous, you don't get to ignore that.

Surely you mean they just roll for the random movement.

Ok so units that move a regular 6" do not suffer any tests when moving through terrain if they fleet, flee, sweeping advance, get lashed, etc.
Got it.
I found it confusing because the units in my army all move the basic 6".

Not sure what you mean by "if they fleet"
I think you mean "If they Run"
