Me and my friends are thinking of some new ideas for 40k armies that games workshop could release, we were thinking of the sort of armies in the poll above
We are open to any new suggestions, and the idea we think is best we will make an army of!
Thanks!

I quite like the goody daemons idea, but they'd probably need to e called something other than daemons. I imagine them similar to angels etc.

There are less malevolent warp entities. Some live with the Dark Angels; not exactly in army numbers though.

Those are all pretty terrible ideas though.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

These are all pretty bad ideas.

The Big E's warp spawned Angels.

I had this idea recently and liked it.

I voted for 'something entirely different.' I'm not trying to be a contrarian, but I just didn't like the other options.

Tau are already pretty evil as it is.

If by 'Demons of Light and Good' you actually mean angels, then no. All the armies in 40k are evil, and I think that should stay. If you mean some kind of Judge-Dredd-mentality-kill-everyone-with-even-a-shread-of-corruption 'angels', then I think there is some potential, but the Inquisition/Sisters are already kind of covering that angle.

There is a new Sisters Codex coming out. Granted, it will only be available through White Dwarf, which means it probably won't be what you would expect from say, a real Codex, but we take what they give us.

And, really, even though I love Marines, we don't need another Space Marine book.

What I would like to see is a book of more Space Marine heroic characters. That way it isn't a whole book on a single Chapter, but one book which contains all you need for a crap-ton of Chapters.

Sorry man, those ideas are all pretty lackluster. Why not go through some of the 40k stories looking for alien forces that are hinted at, pick the one that you feel will provide the best inspiration, and go from there?

Ew... I would go with a totally new race.

I can't stand the "Angels" idea and create a "Dark side" of every faction is a little bit... too easy.
Sisters are already defined, and just need arrangement, so not a "new race".
There is many SM chapters ; you can't play them with one of the many SM codexi or even with the SMC one.

Anyway, a totally new (and interesting AND playable) race is not that easy to create...

I would like to see a bio technology based race evolved from plant life. Their common ancestors would be some sort of sentient plant that eventually evolved into bipedal humanoid beings. Their technology would be biological as would their ships, cities, and so forth. Since they evolved from plants they would be able to communicate, control, and interact with all plant life.

They would probably have toxins and poison attacks. The ability to 'root' themselves in the ground to prevent from fleeing. Possibly control the trees and plant life on the table. Their artillery and vehicles would be basically giant grown plants engineered into weapons. The Psykers would be attuned to natural types of abilities, controlling the weather, modifying the earth, etc. Think earthquakes and thunderstorms.

Just an idea, but I guess Orks are sort of already plant evolved, well fungus evolved. So maybe they would never go that route.

Another idea for a race is something like the Crazy Eddies (from the Mote in God's Eye) which are space ape like creatures that self replicate and are genetically engineered to do specific jobs. They have a whole military class as well.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of the Eldar!

@Ratius... les conquérants de la lumière! Man, how I loved these cartoons... Second only to Ulysses XXI in my list of euroanime faves.

As for new 40k armies, my choices are Forces of Chaos and Adeptus Mechanicus. I don't give much credit to those Hrud rumors but if they turn out to be true I'd be happy with them. They'd sort of fit into the "Dark Tau" stereotype: Technologically adept, menacing Xenos bent on undermining the Imperium.

Speaking of which, if GW's planning to add a new xenos race, they'd better give them better motivations. With three, maybe four races already bent on feeding/stealing human souls... don't you think there's a bit too much soul-munching going on 40k?

My Carcharodons idea before was a sad attempt at irony. However, that doesn't ban me from thinking that flying space marines riding bionic hoversharks with frakking LASERS IN THEIR EYES would be 40k's most deserved crowning moment of awesome.

Provided it's Mat Ward who writes the fluff, that is.

I tried to find illustrations of the crazy eddys from the Mote in God's eye but no one has seemed to have made them. I only found one via google image searching

I think they would be a cool addition and they are very unique.

The Horus Heresy books that deal with the Dark Angels says they're aliens/alien constructs, though not in a mechanical sense if the latter.

Good Daemons?! Why do that when they could just bring back Malal/Malice in full force? He's a chaos god who represents the unbiased destructive nature of chaos hence kills other daemons.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
