Could this be the new Storm of Magic cover?

Inside this month's issue:

A Magical Maelstrom: Armed with his tome of spells, Simon Grant talks to Mat Ward about the new Warhammer Expansion: Storm of Magic.

Here be monsters: Trish Carden sits down with Andy Hall to talk about the menagerie of monsters that are released upon the battlefields of the Warhammer world this month.

Monsters for Hire: Storm of Magic is a great excuse to add all manner of new things to your army, as Simon Grant and the Studio's generals explain.

Cities of Death: Adam Troke takes a fresh look at the Cities of Death Expansion, providing updated rules, new missions and race-specific stratagems.

A Storm in the North: As the Winds of Magic blow into a howling gale, the Warriors of Chaos march upon the Dark Elves of Naggaroth in this month's Storm of Magic battle report.

The Tyrant and the Wolf: In the second of this issue's battle reports, Phil Kelly's heroic Space Wolves engage in bloody urban warfare against Adam's dastardly Chaos Space Marines.

I doubt that is the front cover. The claw on the top left is a bit fuzzy and missing part of it. Same on the top right claw.

It might be, but the recent covers have been much sharper.

No, that's not the cover of Stom of Magic.

They show the book inside the issue. IIRC it has different artwork and is more red (I only got to look at it at the store last night for a minute, sorry so vague).

I was more intrigued by the structure rather than the artwork. It has a split cover with the seam about a margin's width from the binding. That cover panel folds out to the right and has an integral spinner built into the inside face.

This is also the cover art for Caledor, which is amazing, and whilst they have used cover art before. I would imagine it would probably be something more magical than a High Elf on a dragon with a sword.

No, it is the cover art of the White Dwarf
The cover art of the SoM book can be seen inside that issue on page 11.

Each turn one wind of magic is ascendant and those spells are easier to cast IIRC. "Spin to win" kind of thing one can only suppose.

I believe it had something to do with magic power / randomization. Sorry, I'm not a WH player so I can't speak with any accuraccy ... I expect someone (anyone) else can fill in the blanks better than I can.

One interesting development is that GW management has told store employees not to show customers the store copy of the July White Dwarf until it goes on sale this coming Saturday. However, being the only source of marketing the stores now have to entice people about Storm Of Magic or to lure them back to the store on Saturday to purchase the White Dwarf there are clearly instances where the employees are indeed allowing customers to peer at the July White Dwarf before Saturday.

And the title of this topic should be changed to just "July White Dwarf" since the first post summarizes the contents and cover nicely, but is clearly off the mark with the current title about the Storm Of Magic book over.

Yes, I know, rub it in why don't ya? I'm still waiting for my subscription copy to come in the mail. It usually arrives within 3 or 4 days of the release day the past few months. Last month I actually had it on release Saturday, I could have plotzed I was so surprised, that will probably never happen again.

Still, even when my subscription runs out, I'm not driving to Glen Burnie just to get WD a week early. Sorry Games & Stuff. LOL.

That will depend on whether or not it makes them any money and how soon. I wonder how Advance Orders for this will turn out with such a short lead time before actual release? GW like most businesses likes to get people's money as soon as possible because when you're talking many thousands of dollars then the interest on getting it early is significant. It seems like their strategy now is designed to rob them of that if not some actual sales due to lack of information. This stuff is cool but expensive and with information so lacking before release now that can't be good for sales.

regarding whats in the issue. they have been saying (apparently) that they trying to roll back WD to be more liek it was in the old days, with more hobby articles and fewer one sided battle reports etc.

Does anybody think this coudl be an ideal opportunity for the retrun of Chapter Approved? I wasn't in the hobby when CA was around but it seems to have been a part of WD dedicated to new and upcoming units and/or rules. With GW essentially ridding themselves of all marketing media outside of WD it seems CA would be agreat addition to the "new" WD.

It might be part of their secret launch. Apple would have 'leaks' about the IPad---which after launch turned out to be tightly controlled marketing by Apple. I'm assuming this is the model Wells is referring to in his "Hype mostly at launch" hyperbole.

What I don't think he realizes is that people won't sell their children off for a GW product----unlike Apple products.

I like this issue, aside from the usual tripe it is a feast for the eyes. Damn it, they somehow managed to make me buy yet another issue.

I am curious about that big Storm of Magic book of theirs now.

Ex of Ally Morrison, who also still sculpts for GW. Years ago, they often worked together in that if a monster came with a model riding on it, Ally sculpted the rider while Trish sculpted the monstrous mount.
