Hello all..

Some of you may have been watching our progress in THIS THREAD trying to do the impossible -- give a voice to pretty much all of War40k where one never existed especially when being able to interact with the user.

However we are at an em-pass due to determining what accents and personalities fit with the following list below.

We need a quick breakdown for each of these of

a) What prominent accent should they use (ie. Generic N. American? British/Scottish? Germanic? Spanish? Russian? Asian/Mongolian? Female?), and
b) In 1-2 sentences explain what kind of personalities do they largely have?

ie. We figure Blood Angels are mad (insane?) but what accent do they use?

Here is that list:

Space Marines
Blood Angels
Blood Ravens
Crimson Fists
Imperial Fists
Iron Hands
Raven Guard
Red Scorpions
Salamanders

Chaos
Alpha Legion
Black Legion
Blood Pact
Death Guard
Emperors Children
Iron Warriors
Night Lords
Red Corsairs
Thousand Sons

Imperial Guard
Last Chancers/Penal Legion
Tanith First and Only/Gaunts Ghosts

So we need what accent and whats their general personality so all VAs can sorta get a general overview.

If you want to see the entire list we've done since Fall'09 HERE IT IS!

Hope to get the above list sorted before we commence voice actor sessions.

Thanks everyone!

Varying cities in the North

Iron hands slightly mysterious and untrustworthy, how much do you want? They need to have a monotone voice, as they are quite mechanical etc!

Death guard strike me as having a sort of hissing voice, but I'm not sure!

Theyre not really accents but oh well! and I wasn't sure how much personality you wanted, an I dint know any for the death guard but thought I should just put what I feel their voices are like out there!

Yeah a 1-2 sentence description of the personality of those listed SM, CSM, and Imp Guard chapters/regiments would be all thats needed. Accent.. well I figure most SM and CSM chapters use a Generic N. American or combo American/British accent. Ones like Black Templars are mostly Germanic while White Scars are Asian/Mongolian.

Yeah figured the mighty Iron Hands were like that. Death Guard I figured are generic N. American accent who talk VERY heavy with lots of Phlegm VOX grills. Some of them will indeed talk serpentine-like also (ie. Possessed Plague Vessels)

Edit:
@Toastly -- yeah imagined Tanith would be Brit/Scottish much like Mordians but wanted to be sure but, hell, Tanith have a PIPER as part of their Command Squad so..

Tanith = agree
Penal Legions = yeah gathered they sound like inmates in the local pen.
Red Corsairs = British Pirates? Never though RC under Huron's control would be Brits..

hahah yeah since RC are basically unruly and disorganized they'd be arrogant, trust no one, no allegiances but the accent is what we really need to nail down..

Night Lords = something quite hideous and scary.. evil comes..

Thousand Sons = pompous.. super-arrogant sorcerers but Rubric Marines/Terminators/Dreadnought powered by wraith so yes much whispering.. ethereal almost.

Welcome to the internet, and specifically a gaming forum.

If your choice of game is not made in a blood oath that can only be broken by a quest and vow made with the most overwrought dramatics, then you aren't doing it right. -curran12

Same argument could be said about the lost Fire Hawks chapter now called The Legion of the Damned. We had to make a call on that so we compromised: half ghastly but limited broken dialogue so all units would bring some context to the player while maintaining the fluff.

Thousand Sons = we went cyber/whisper like with the Rubrics units but Sorcerers would be highly intelligent but the FX on their voices hasn't been finalized.

Emperors Children = spoiled and nasty. Arrogant also. Loud.. perhaps.. Can't be too loud or the player would be annoyed playing the chapter.

Crimson Fists are... comical? Yeah hear they have a Spanish accent though.

i think with the blood angels, when not in combat they will be very well spoken oxford gentlemen, but in battle when their black rage comes on they just scream and roar with the fury of their ex primarch

Makes sense about the Blood Angels.. all VAs would have to give extra ROAR and POWER to all ATTACK, CHARGE, COMBAT lines..

Crimson Fists all have Hispanic names, so work off that without going full on Speedy Gonzalez with the voices. Everyone else is British in the future, except Catachans and some more badass Guard regiments who are Americans. Americans who eat cigarettes and broken glass.
