Varying cities in the North

Well I've been thinking about starting up a guard army that I can ally to my Space marines yet also use as a stand alone army, but I can't decide which 'type' of guard. I was thinking a lot of armour, with leman russes and the like (idk, maybe some guard have more tanks?) and I want a very individual army. I immediately took out catachans (idk why, i just dont like them ) and tallarns (greatly individual, but not enough models). The main competitors are DKoK or Vostroyans, with Cadians close behind! I like the fact that cadians are cheap and plastic, and offer a range of paint schemes, but I prefer the fluff of DK and I like Vostroyans because I kinda fancied doing them in the snow and having fun with bases, but that'll clash when with my space marines! D: so atm, it's between DKoK and cadians, so I will put it to you! Death Korps for their fluff and models, or cadians for their price and the versatility of the kit/paint schemes. Please vote and tell me your reasons! thank you in advance!

If you are asking us to decide based on the criteria for which you like them, then go with the Death Korps. I choose my army based on the background behind them. I encourage you to do likewise.

If you want our opinions, I personally like the Cadian background better. I think the Death Korps of Krieg is just...hollow, to me. I know what kind of effect they were going for, and the just missed the mark by enough to make the whole thing come off wrong to me. Again, personal opinion.

Hope that helps.

North of your position

My Spahz mahriin hart says DKoK. They are the IG versions of SM's fluffwise. And I like the background better, as for the models. Gas Masks are cool, just like bow ties

I don't mean to start an argument but DKoK are the complete opposites of SM in my opinion.
Dakka will tell you DKoK because they are ace.

Thanks everyone! The price is a big issue, though! :/ as well as the fact I will need a huge book for them, whereas cadians have a nice, handy one!

And @thenoobbomb bow ties are definitely cool! As are fezes. And stetsons.

I voted Cadians. DKoK are amazing and beautiful, but Cadians are cheaper and easier to customize/convert to your liking.

Hmmm... That is a valid point, and one of my main reasons for leaning that way!

I say use both. Cadians for the bulk of your troops but then use the occasional DKoK unit for Veterans. I have a very hybrid list of IG (Cadians, Catachan, Cadian/Catachan, and Steel Legion) but i really liked the Death Riders and sub them as Rough Riders--DKoK is sweet to look at but can be prohibitively expensive.....

I voted Cadian for the ease of converting them to fit your personal style.

I do not discriminate....all races are equally worthless....

Confused

I think both. Get Cadians to make the bulk of your force, because of their cheapness (comparatively) and customisability. Then get DKoK to make up another part and say they're serving alongside. Cheap AND awesome!

you can do that!!!(have an army with both DKoK and Cadians)!!! will people play against that!?!?! OMG, i am getting ready to start a DKoK army, but if i could use cadians(which i already have some), that would save me alot...
