Finns were actually the first army that really got me interested in playing FOW. By coincidence, Adepticon and an EW tournie came before I was fully ready to assemble and paint them, so my French got (mostly) finished first. Now, I'v finally had a chance to get around to putting this army together.

The RajaJaakari, Finnish for "Border Jaegers", were deployed after the Finnish Civil War to help secure Finland's borders. While the border guards on the Norwegian and Swedish borders performed light duties such as customs enforcement (and, later, the Sea Guard patrolled Finnish waters against alcohol smugglers during Prohibition), those along the Russian border were tasked with surveillance against Russian threats and developing military defenses and supply routes.

At the beginning of the Winter War, the border guards were formed into 9-10 combat companies (english sources differ) and, given their training and knowledge of local terrain, performed admirably in defense against the Soviets. It wasn't until after the war, that General Mannerheim bestowed them with the title "RajaJaakari" in honor of their excellent service.

With this army I'm trying to represent a typical RajaJaakariKomppania at the start of the Continuation War through the end of hostilities. 24 such companies were formed during this time to act as a screening force and to protect the flanks of the regular infantry companies. It's core is organized exactly as a typical Border Jaeger company, using the Jalkavaki list. This includes a CC SMG team, 2iC SMG team, 2 attached AT-Rifle teams, 2 full strength Jalkavaki platoons, a 3-squad Pioneeri platoon armed with SMGs and Flamethrowers, and a Maxim HMG team.

Other units are attached from Regimental and Divisional levels - usually from the regular army.

Awesome project. Always a pleasure to see some hard core Sissi take out some Socialist scum

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

And any 85mm-armed command tank if I ever do an armoured co.:

And, all together:

These are all plastic PSC T-34s, a steal at $30 for 5! You can see my review here.
