People at work, Comics I read, and now even TF2 people are all telling me about League of Legends. I know it's free, but I was wondering if I should even bother trying to download it...

Also, is Morganna any good?

I played it for a while but its purely PVP based, so if this is good then feel free.

I myself got bored of it quickly as I suck at PVP so got pwned alot, which really does put somebody off of a game thats PVP based.

Takes a while to get used to, but not as much as DOTA.

This section has had a few large LoL threads, so yep people here will probably recommend it.

As for Morgana, probably the most annoying part will be getting used to the skill shot she has. This guide might help a bit with what items to buy and general tips on Morgana, much of it you won't really need for a fair while. As for the runes and masteries, you won't need to worry about them until a much later level. I'd also recommend doing the second tutorial a few times to get a feel for the game before moving onto proper PVP play.

If you have the money, and like these sorts of games, you should get Heroes of Newerth, it's a lot more competitive though.

Yeah, League of Legends is a lot friendlier to new players of the genere. However, I enjoy the cut throat speed at which HoN plays out. Much closer to DotA than LoL is in my opinion. But either way I recommend starting out with which ever game has your friends in it so that they can help teach you how to play quicker. After that, you might want to take a look at the other game and see what suits your style of play better.

LoL is pretty good, a bit more friendlier than dota. The only down side is there's a lot of bratty kids. Vindictus is pretty decent though.

Well, I Downloaded it, and I am liking it so far. Got enough people at work feeding me info that I have been told who I want to buy: Pantheon, and "Evil Aladdin". Working on Pantheon right now. Do you get more IP for comp matches instead of against Bots?

Just an FYI, Pantheon is very underpowered at this point in the game. He was nerfed...a lot, and isn't very good.

I would assume you are referring to Malzahar with the Alladin quip, lol, who is quite the opposite. Malzahar is pretty hard to play, but he is an excellent champion.

DotA is better

I'm pretty cool on lol right now. The Ip decrease that happened awhile back combined to some nerfs to my favorite characters along with general player heckleing has turned me off the game almost completely.


It's good for a bit if you main as one or two characters. But unless you sink a load of time into it you will never be able to afford all the runes and glyphs and such to play a wide range of characters.

Your experiance my differ of course...

Yeah, that's what I am being told about Pantheon; he's underpowered but his Jump move makes him fun. And after some research, Malzahar is indeed the one I was talking about. I'm at 1350 of the 3150 needed to unlock Pantheon, and then need to start saving up for Malzahar.

I was told a good way to go about it is to have a Tank, a Caster, and a DPS character that you like to play as, since you won't always get your favorite. I was thinking of adding Blitzcrank in there as the Tank...

It takes no talent for what they achieved in wc3. DOTA is the biggest mistake in gaming history. After being a map maker for 6 years. I can tell you it could only take me like 1 day bymyself... To make a League of legends game. It vastly populates WC3. There is not a page on there that doesn't have DOTA as a selected game.
Sorry I am coming from a very biased group map makers that hates DOTA for such a pointless experience
Other than that it has a fun but repetitive gameplay and heroes are interesting.

I actually am playing it for two main reasons:

People at work play it, so it's a bit of Coworker bonding,

and

I have a game idea that is alot like it. In fact, if you go to the Skirmish game forums, you will see the "Tower Defense Skirmish Game", which played almost exactly like LoL.

clearly you have not play Cruiser Command, COT RPG, Custom Castle Defense, LOAP Gangs DarkChaos, Kingdoms of Kalrion, Guilds of Hyppos, Swat Aftermath, Titan's Land, SOTDRP, XRP, and Village Builder (Newest versions).
Mate after going through the games i listed they are the most balanced custom games of all time.

Karon I agree XD, but i know many people who have turned to the darkside and are now savage reavers XD

I only play tanks like Galio, Cho'gath and Rammus these days, because no one likes playing tanks everyone wants to be mages and DPS's so they can get awesome kill-streaks.

I don't think I can recomend any game more than LoL right now. It is the game that finally got me to stop playing WoW.
