Do Chaos Daemons even have a chance? I have two friends, one plays Chaos Daemons and the other one Grey Knight but the first doesn't want to play with the latter because of this. I wonder if their advantage is that huge.

Well, all Chaos Daemons have Eternal Warrior and invulnerable saves, two things that defeat force weapons. Also, they aren't psykers, do not use psychic powers, and some ubits can benefit from a gift that lets them ignore force weapons on 2+ (a gift that few GK units can counter).

This pretty much means that Daemon are actually better off now than they were against the 3rd ed Daemonhunters codex. ironically, its the Marine armies that have something to fear from GK, not the Daemons.

It hilarious, Grey Knights do worse against Daemons than the Daemonhunter codex did, and Chaos Daemons is actually one of the armies that does well against them.

I just want to specify a thing: while many daemons have eternal warrior and can ignore FORCE weapons, the new GK force weapons have another gimmick:
Against psykers and daemons, they can slay the enemy outright on a roll after wounding. That's different from the force weapon effect and it ignores both force weapon immunity AND eternal warrior.

Still, most reports I have seen between daemons and GK see the GKs lose.

And that roll is versus a leadship of 10 in most cases, which means the roll will almost alwasy favor the Daemon, and not the Knight.

Khorne Daemons will eat GK for breakfast. I also like how everyone was crying that GK would destroy Daemons when the codex came out, but now people realize they really aren't that great against them. Don't get me wrong, GK can beat Daemons, but no easier than Codex Marines can.

Correct. The new GK codex seems to be aimed more at countering the meta-game rather than being strickly anti-Daemons.

Pretty much rock-paper-scissors. Daemons have nothing more to worries about from GK than they do from other Marines armies.

Ironically, Blood Angels and Space Wolves are superior at Daemon Hunting... This makes sense?

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

Proper deployment/movement and use of warp quake can shut off entire portions of the map. Overall, I think it'll be a fair match.

GKs can, if they make a few tailorings, can wipe the floor with Deamons, but a balanced list won't be any more deadly then other codices.

high volume shooting attacks are what hurts deamons(those 5++ saves arn't much good against stormbolters)

its a pretty fair match all things considered.

Kinda what Grey Templar just said.

In a standard grey knights list, you won't be finding a huge troublesome list, especially if you fill up on blessing of the blood God.

But if GK's were to tailor a list to beat daemons, even with all that Blessing of the blood god, GK's would still likely be the victor.

lol no, what an arbitrary way to try and brand grey knights.

Game doesn't work that way for any newbies looking. A balanced list has no counter, they just take more skill to run.

Actually, All Comers lists do have counters, lists that go in an extreme manner. The best example would be an Ork Green Tide, as most lists simply can't kill that many Orks fast enough.

the Force Weapons don't ignore Eternal Warrior for deamons.

the Deamonbane rule says every Deamon model wounded by a GK Nemisis Force Weapon must pass a Ld test or be removed from play.

well, all GKs have Hammerhand, a Str enhancing psychic power, and it can be cast and stacked multiple times with Lvl2 or 3 psykers.

Libbies have Might of Titan which gives +1str and an additional D6 for armor penetration and this also stacks with itself and Hammerhand.

but its still only ever 1 Ld test and not 1 per wound.
