Hey all,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on the Bret Erranty War List - is it still valid?

Link here: http://www.cadik.info/warhammer/bretonnia/downloads/SoC_errantrywar.pdf

Produced in 2004 by GW in line with the current Bret Army Book (which was produced for 7th ed rules).

I was chatting at my local GWS and they said it may no longer be compatible with the rules, I had a look - I think it still is, and offers a really cool idea for fluff. Now I ask because I only have the local GWS to play at the moment, as I don't have a big circle of friends that game regularly... so I just wanted your thoughts before I build the list.

Cheers

I don't see how it wouldn't be, aside from the special rule re: LD penalties and upgrading the unit champ to a grail knight, the list is basically doable with the current Brett army book isn't it? I mean, it doesn't look like anything has changed slots and the only change in units at all is the loss of the Prophetess...

Yea I agree guys.

I am sure that in friendly games most people will let me play - Like Streamdragon mentioned, its the normal list.

The advantages are obvious, the extra erranty banners (+1 str on charge) and that I can have Grail Knights as the Champions (literal Ninja's).

The concern I had was that the GW staff said it might not be compatible - and if I play in store against some one...I don't want to get him off side.

In that case, take two lists (or the same list written using both sets of rules, just tweaked for each version) and ask if the Errantry one is OK.

Reiko - yea I think that's what I'll have to do.

What the fluff is suppose to be:

Maldred of Mousillon has died, leaving his realm without a lord. There are rumours a 'black knight' has arisen to assume the kingdom. (this is all from the army book). My twist is-

Maldred had three offspring (possibly out of wedlock) the eldest being a girl and the other two, twin boys. These three all claim to be the rightful descendant. They are very eager to prove themselves, and are followed by various followers. The Black Knight has them under his watchful gaze, to identify who is truly ready to assume the responsibility.

This allows me to have a Lord character as the 'Black knight' then at least three units of knights. I want each unit to have a colour scheme and they are lead by a sibling each. The rules of the Erranty War (where the units are likely to charge bigger units) relates to them trying to prove themselves, the lower skill value shows they are young (as are their followers). I can then add the grail knights to each unit as an advisor to the youths - showing them the way (perhaps they were dad's most trusted knights). You guys can see where I am going.

The only other way I can reflect this is to build them as units of knights of the realm, as in a normal list only one has the erranty banner and I don't feel it is as 'fluffy'

Thoughts?

It allows for some really awesome converting. I've already put one unit together and am building the all girl unit right now (yes that's right.... a unit of 15 female knights bwah hahaha)

Well you could manage it with 3 units of KoTR each with a Paladin (or a Damsel/Prophetess for the Female if shes a Wizard), but this does screw with the points values etc.

I like the idea though, especially the all female KoTR!! (how the hell they are going to look girly i'll never know..... on that note, pics or it didnt happen!! )

I've just started putting the girls together... They are looking really good. I need to work on their waist lines, as the bret knight legs are very manly and my female torso's are...ummm well lets just say they go to the gym and don't eat alot! haha.

Pics for sure, I'll get them fixed up with some green stuff - but I'm pretty happy... Have to get rid of the elf ears to (urgh silly elves)
