Hey guys, i'm still working on my army and I plan to order up a couple of more models soon. I always play around with lists but this time I feel the urge to get a Black Orc Warboss on --- yes, you guessed right - on a Wyvern. Are the points worth it, both for the awesomeness and for the killyness?

In 8th edition it's alot easier for big targets like a Wyvern to be killed. You can make the rider tough enough to survive but you can't really do anything to improve the wyverns chances except keep it in cover or maybe put it behind a shield of trolls (their regeneration makes them good shields) untill you get close enough to charge but TLOS still makes it difficult. And things like the Wyvern can no longer wipe out most units entirely by themselves so small units, warmachines and multi unit charges are your best bet with him at least from my experience.

If you want to take him I'd say take him (I'm actually coming up with a plan for a friend to make an all plastic wyvern and boss), I still run a carnosaur in my lizardmen even though it isn't the best choice. But if you're one of those die hard, best possible list, in it to win it, 100% competitive types then it's not something you should take.

OH and it would work better against armies with little to no shooting like Warriors of Chaos and Beastmen, against armies with alot of shooting or the potential for it like Wood Elves, Dwarfs and Empire it's gonna be just a big bullet magnet.

Alright, got it! Then I will order up some Trolls as well, those models are beyond sweet.

Order it it's a sick model and works well just a word of advice do NOT charge an angry warriors of chaos warriors with a kitted out lord that will only end in a terrible terrible beat down.

And avoid getting shot by cannons and stone throwers also hellcannons are nasty and can rip 6 wounds of youbut with a bit of planning it eats stuff

With less shooty armies, like WOC, beastmen and orcs (kinda), it does that the capability of being good, and earning back it's points, although in lower point games it is a big point sink and can go badly wrong if you don't get the charge, come against something shooty, or get bogged down and recieve some unlucky rolls.

By angry WoC, do you mean Warriors with Mark of Khorne?

I see. Well my plan is to play 2k+ games so I suppose I won't have the problem with point sink. Or will I...?

As Ironskull suggested I will place him behind a couple of River Trolls so hopefully he will be able to survive for a bit longer. But yeah, thanks for the tips!

Wyverns aren't really worth it imo. They're not that killy, if you look closely, for their large price tag; they're totally outclassed by dragons of other races and cannons can pick them off all too easily.

ByGNu angry I mean any sort of warriors they are all angry and the lords don't take kindly to anything haha.

They are not the most amazing but they work and are fun

Alrighty! Well I will get a Wyvern anyway, even if I will shelf him he will look pretty cool there anyway haha.

A sun dragon is 60 points greater than a Wyvren and its stat line is only a tiny bit better, I would take the Wyvren any day
