hey guys. I'm curious with a rule about departing destroyed vehicles. If a vehicle were to explode and was destroyed by a unit completely encircling the vehicle. could the unit be placed inside of the spot where the tank once was assuming all models had at least 1" of distance from an enemy model? I want to say yes but I'm not a 100% and figure I could do worse then get others point of view on the rules.

Yes, you would place them in the crater, pg. 67 of the BRB under "Effects of Damage results on passengers - Destroyed - Explodes!" first paragraph.

Well considering you are required to place the formerly embarked unit where the vehicle used to be, you must place them in the footprint of where the vehicle was.
and you are required to keep a 1 inch distance from enemy models.
All this is covered on Page 67

As you say, as long as you can keep the usual distance away from enemy models. If you can't... tough luck.

WEll, only if you assume that placement is a "move", otherwise you can place models within 1" of an enemy.
