Hey Guys!

My imperial guard army is (roughly) themed on the American army in WW2. But I need some advice on making the tanks as awesome as possible.

How do I get that olive-ish green color on sherman tanks?

For example:

or

http://companyofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/M4A3_Sherman

Any other advice for painting in a WW2 theme?

I think Catachan green is close.

If you live near a good hobby shop they will definitely have testor's olive drab which is meant to do WWII colors.

yup, thats exactly it, just grab a brighter green to highlight the edges, I think camo green, and mix it with catachan green.

Humbrol do an acrylic "olive drab" the actual Sherman tank colour if you can be bothered to hunt online for it. I don't know if you can get Humbrol paints in the U.S.

I'd go for a spray primer like Krylon/Rustoleum Camouflage Dark Green or Army Green. You might experiment and see if you can wash a base coat of Army Green to get an olive color.

There's definitely a few companies that put out lines of paint that are WWII colors. Testors has a good one called... Acryl Model Masters? Not sure of the exact name, but I'm sure that most hobby shops would have accurate WWII paints.

Thanks for the help guys! I think Catachan green with highlights of camo green would do the trick.

The correct color for WWII US tanks is 887 brown violet and vallejo makes it.

If you want to be exact.

Indeed, Vallejo makes some good colours, both fantasy and historical range. (cba to remember their exact names)

This is the easiest historical paint to find, it's simply called olive drab (or OD green) Any hobby store can point you to it, and I believe rustoleum makes it in their camoflage line
