My question is, and I'm pretty sure that I clarified it myself when the rules question came up.

I've played a couple (literally 2) games of Warmachine, but I picked up the Trollbloods warpack and a dire troll (didn't get to use him yet). I was playing against the Menoth Battlegroup, and cast Sure Foot on Madrak (keeping him close to his trolls to hopefully attempt to prevent Kreoss's feat from stomping me). Kreoss moves up, and casts Lamentation (doubles the costs of spells etc)... Because I cannot draw more fury off of my beasts than Madrak's FURY stat, I cannot spend the FURY required to upkeep sure foot? Am I correct in saying that Lamentation kinda screwed Madrak's ability to cast any spell but Stranglehold (Granted, this spell might have saved me).

Ummm upkeeps only ever cost one point to upkeep. Perhaps I don't understand the question, but if you were able to get the upkeep off initially at its full cost and were generating more than one fury before Lamentation went off you'd only ever be paying one fury. With Lamentation casted you'd be paying two to upkeep. Does this help?

Yes, you answered it... Thank you I was going off of what I remembered from my first 2 games of Warmachine, but if this is the case, then the whole game would have changed...

i.e. I might have won, because I went down during Kreoss' feat turn.

Also, unless I missed something... Is there an ability that pDenny has that is similar to Lamentation, because this might be where I was screwed up originally with the upkeep costs.

No, pDenny has nothing to screw with upkeep costs. Well her feat reduces FOCUS stat of caster caught in it but Madrak doesn't care about it.

My demo games were my menoth battlegroup vs. the Cryx one... I remember distinctly setting aside 2 focus a turn for upkeep costs for Defender's Ward... unless the guy who gave me the demo got some things wrong... (he still did well enough to get me into the game).

I make errors all the time (So I don't mind if someone makes an error), I'm hopefully going to be making less, because the entire point of playing yesterday was to get my buddy into Warmachine (because he likes the whole undeath thing, and was looking at cryx) But after seeing me play my trollbloods, he wants to start a Legion army .

Question about legion... Their blood creation ability means that if they frenzy, they're coming after me correct?

With the exception of never attacking their controlling caster beasts with Blood Creation still follow all normal frenzy rules, so they can attack other Legion models, just not warcasters.

Okay, because I was a little worried about my friend picking up Legion (he likes the look of the models, and likes that he gets a good amount of models for his dollar).

Have him post his models up here, too! Doubly so if he paints googly eyes on the Carniveans etc. I always want to do that...

I'll start up a thread for my Menoth (can't post my Khador since I bought them off of djphranq ).

But I'm not too sure if I can get him to paint his Legion (if he buys a force) because I can't even get him to paint his dark eldar

Don't give me ideas for my post deployment block leave otherwise my christmas list will look like this:

Carnivean and plastic googly eyes. ( I think I will call him derpy. )

But back on topic: It would mean 2 points to upkeep a spell with that effect going on. ( See page 78 of the warmachine Core rules. )
