I was haveing a look at the old glory WWII model deals, and legal army that would cost $200 (Just to start playing) only cost 80$ from old glory (Including the 40% off deal)

So how come I dont see alot of people using the old glory models (and if they are, I havent noticed because they look like BF ones..which is good )

Seems that some people don't like the way OG stuff is packaged (bags of fifty troops or three vehicles) because it isn't neatly arranged into pre-made platoons like BF stuff. Of course the fact that the average army is probably going to need at least fifty riflemen etc and that most vehicles get fielded in at least threes is apparently not relevant. The best option is to buy the bags, take what you need, and ebay the leftovers.

And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio

People also find that once you add things like commanders to vehicles and bases to infantry you don't end up saving that much in the end. It depends on what you want though.

I bought 3 Jagdpanthers and I am not very satisfied with the quality. For 10€ more I prefer BF miniatures.

If you want to be even cheaper go for Plastic Soldier or Zvezda.

I ordered:
8 Panzer II
4 Katyusha
3 KV-1
3 Ilyhushin Il-2
12 SdKfz 251

For less than 80€.

Mainly a quality thing, cheaper brands usually have matching quality. But there are exceptions, PCS has some very nice plastics and there are other cheaper brands that dont suffer too much

Plastic Soldier Company being an exception. I bought 5 PZ IVs for $26, plastic. Absolutely great kits, and way cheaper than the BF offerings. The PSC germans were also great, actually being 'in scale' for 15mm, they looked odd until I realized they didn't have giant heads, and weren't chunky.

As far as OG goes, I'd gladly pay $6 for a german halftrack, since I need, I think, 17 for my german force. They don't last long on the table usually, they sometimes get sent to the rear, and after they're painted and at tabletop distance, no one is really going to notice whether they're BF or Old Glory, or whatever. Particularly if you use all the same manufacturer. As far as crew and whatnot, it doesn't really make a difference if you use them or not (aesthetics and personal choice, clearly), so the OG offerings are substantially cheaper than BF.

Several of the OG vehicles do come with crew, though there is no rule as to which ones that might be. My Wespe did, my Quad Flak didn't. But a single bag of fifty crew is pretty generic enough to crew most things, and the average army will use them up.

All the OG Command Decision vehicles I've bought have been truly awful quality. I have bought their True North line though and they've been pretty nice (though vehicles lack detail). HOWEVER...

It should be noted that ALL of OG's Command Decision line is based on Skytrex in the UK, whose quality as I understand it is much much better (since Skytrex uses good molds, not like OG). If you go to their site, you'll notice a big difference is that they....actually. have. pictures! Probably, because they aren't scared of showing good quality...

If you're looking for cheaper 15mm stuff, I recommend PSC & Peter Pig

Which is not necessarily the rule, because I've had a couple of crappy Skytrex casts, and some outstanding OG ones. I believe that OG is remastering their line at random (whilst also introducing new lines.)

PSC do seem to be the future, but it might be a while before the achieve a comprehensive range capable of providing for all requirements. Pig are more comprehensive, but a little expensive in places (and apparently very expensive overseas.) All three tend to be cheaper than BF though, and none of them suffer from massive bobbleheads on their troops like BF do.

That's unfortunate about Skytrex, but I've never personally ordered from them, so the above was simply what I've heard...
