Dunno if this should go here or in tactics... but well hope i can get some opinions from here.

I'm playing an Apoc game next sunday, 3v3, 3k pts per player. So i made out my list and was cool without using any formation or assets. However viewing over the Apocalypse Reloaded formations one more time i saw the Lords of the Black Crusade formation, if you are not familiar with it, basically it gives you a apoc size orbital bombardment for each shooting phase that abbaddon is on the table. We are facing 3 marine armies so i though an AoE with AP3 would be pretty useful, however i'm not so sure that it is completely worth it, has anyone ever used this one on a game? got any other suggestion for formation/assets?

A final comment might be that last year i used this same formation on an apoc game, however on the first turn one of my enemies used the formation that gives vortex grenades to a squad of deep striking termies, and he got the land raider where all my Lords were so didn't even get a chance to use it. However this guy though EACH termie squad had a vortex so he pretty much just threw like 5 or 6 on a turn, hehe, we realized that and then we just rolled a die to see which one was the real one and my lords got unlucky, i guess thats why i'm kinda worried to waste all those points.

Edit: I kinda realized putting some points and which lords i have could help on this.

So the wholes formation would cost me 1270 points

Using all of my non-characters/jump lords.

I'd have:

Chaos Lord with MoK and Daemon weapon
Termie Lord MoN and Daemon Weapon
Chaos Sorc with Gift of Chaos (I know GoC sometimes is worthless but at my LGS it's feared it has turned into piles of goo more avatars and HTs than have my other HQs killed)
Termie Sorc with Wind of Chaos
Abaddon

3 termies with 2 PFs, Reaper Autocannon and 2 combi-meltas

Besides the orbital bombardment thingie i'd have Hold at all Cost, Careful Planning, Indiscriminate Bombardment and Corrupt & Despoil.
