I was doing some mathhammer between Blood Angels and Black Templars for reasons of my own. I found that a Crusader Squad with AACNMTO will kill standard MEQ Tacticals far more efficiently than a Blood Angels Assault Squad with Sanguinary Priest, yet the Assault Squad will utterly own the Crusader squad if the two of them get into a dust-up. But to swing things back to the Templars, BT Terminators would own anything in the Blood Angels 'dex...with the possible exception of Mephiston, who turns it back towards the Blood Angels It got me thinking.
What, really, is the most effective assault army out there? Blood Angels? Tyranids? Orks? Dark Eldar? Black Templars?
Rank them how you see them. Doesn't need to be mathematically supported or anything, just curious what the consensus is.

Just sayin', BT TH/ SS terminators are the best in the game and would likely tear Mephiston a new one.
That said, Blood Angels are way better at playing assaulty. The issue with the Templars is that the Assault Terminators are the only good CC unit in the Codex (Sword Brethren are OK too I guess) and they pretty much require a LRC to get anywhere.

I'd say Blood Angels, due to how effective they can use Heroioc Intervention/DoA.
Not to mention dante picking a spot to drop off some sang guard without rolling scatter is pro.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

As along as a couple survive Meph's strike he'll either be dead or badly wounded. Sword Bros are terrible. To make them worth an Elite slot they require a ton of point investment, you start getting close to 200 pts, might as well bring more Assault Terms.

135 points for 5 guys with furious charge, one of which has a power weapon and one with lightning claws should at least do some damage to MEQ methinks. The only contenders in the elite slots are dreadnoughts and terminators. Terminators are good, but the assault ones require a transport and the tactical ones are expensive too. Dreadnoughts, while good, probably won't fill up all three of your slots unless you're playing a drop pod army. I won't even mention Techmarines...

144 points for 5 guys with no invun saves and extra attacks to make their power weapons worth it.

Where'd you get the 5 extra points from? You're probably right about their usefullness as an agressive unit, but I still think they'd work OK as a counter-assault unit safeguarding a Terminator shooting line, especially if you hide them in a lazorback. Sure, that's quite a bit of extra points, but you'll increase your shooting and keep pesky gnats away from your Terminators.

Probably Orcs if you're talking about two assault armies walking across the field and smashing into each other.
