This seems like it would be too large to put on a Trygon base (Large Oval Base). What size would you think would be appropriate?

Has anyone put one together? If so, did you bother with a base?

That model isn't that big, really. It might be over the edges for a Trygon base, but your only other options are getting one custom cut from wood, or finding an appropriately sized piece of wood at any given hardware store.

If you have the measurements, you can go to Michaels or any other craft store and buy a trophy base in an appropriate size.

Didn't think of that, Heffling. Not sure how big the thing is, though. I was looking at in on the website and getting more and more tempted having just read through Imperial Armor 8...

Take a piece of 1/4" thick plywood and a jigsaw. Put model on plywood. Draw rough outline. Use compass and/or ruler to refine outline. Cut out with jigsaw, sand, mount model.

Have you considered 120MM bases?

That is the same size as a compact disk so check if the model fits well on it and if it does you can order plastic bases this size from a number of sources.

I ordered two 120MM bases from the Privateer Press on-line store to base up a number of larger models (mega-dreads) and they worked great. (pics in my blog)

You think? It looks bigger than 120mm (12cm) to me. I wish they had the size on the FW website. I might just wait until I order it and assemble it, then figure out the base size then.

I don't have a jigsaw, Redbeard, but that's an interesting idea.

A jigsaw is a useful tool to have. Doesn't have to be a mounted one, a hand-tool is just fine for this and you can get one for less than a Finecast Gandalf (as I learned in another thread)
