Hey guys, i was looking at a recent bunkertube battle report(IG vs Chaos) and when he showed the unit with the Lord Commissar, it stood out well, because the model was a plastic conversion. I didn't get a close enough look at it but it appears as if he used part of the IG command spure. I know that the lord Commissar is fine cast now, but to be honest i dislike it for the fact that if a commissar is on the field of battle, especially a Commissar with the mentality of wanting to live longer, be a little more hardened looking, ditch his big jacket or fancy cloak for more practical armor. Say a flak/carapace vest but with his red sash around his waist and his hat to symbolize his office. So would it work if i used the command spure, or just look like another officer? Also, would i be able to sever the head of the finecast commissar and glue it to this new conversion?

yeah, but it's a symbol of the commissar's office to dress like that. He demands utmost respect just by being there as he is. In the Cain book series, he often wears carapace armor concealed under his normal commissar uniform.

BUT not trying to shoot down your idea at all. I would think it is possible to use the finecast head, as long as you are careful. With a properly commissarial color scheme, it could work.

i am currently working on something that is strangly very close to what you suggest...:

peaked hat will follow and i think i´ll add a cape to him too..

also was always looking kind of doubtful to the unarmored commissars... the finest and battlehardened men in nothing than black leather??? how could they be alive for that long still if they haven´t got enough protective armor...well of course their armor is meatshields...^^

Looking at the Lord Commissar again, he isn't wearing his coat and is in fact wearing just a cape. Also, the Lord Commissar is wearing a (very ornamental but probably still carapace) breastplate and pauldrons (of a sort).

Legs = Cadian Command
Torso = Cadian Trooper/Command
Head = Catachan Trooper
Arms = Looks like Empire WHFB arms or some kind. Powersword replacing a regular sword.

Plasma pistol from a marine maybe? There seems to be joints on the fingers.
