Would you mind rephrasing the question? I'd like to help, but am not clear what you're asking, exactly.

Assuming you mean hit it in hth, you hit automatically as it is an immobilized vehicle.

And can the DP fire its weapon? I guess yes, does DS count as cruising speed?

Deep striking vehicles count as having moved at cruising speed. It is not fast, so it may fire 0 weapons the turn it arrives.

I thought that if you were deep striking you could shoot but not assault, unless there is a special rule contradicting this, and deep striking is different to moving, so I wouldn't think that it wouldn't be combat speed or cruising speed. So I would say the drop pod would be allowed to shoot on the turn that it deep strikes, but I'm not a marine or MEQ player so I'm not 100% certain, maybe 95%.

DSing vehicles count as moving at cruising speed, it says so specifically under the DS rules. BT pods are the exception to this as they come with PotMS standard and may use that to fire.

That applies to the passengers in the drop pod, which explains why it was making a connection for you.

Non-vehicles deep striking can shoot but not assault.

Vehicles that deep strike count as moving at cruising speed. (so walkers and fast vehicles can shoot, other vehicles cannot)

Vehicles moving at combat speed can shoot. Cruising speed is where they cannot.

Vehicles count as having moved at cruising speed, not combat speed.

Either way,

If you DS and are not Fast (or don't have PotMS), you can't shoot. Done
