Hey all!
We took a break from our usual back room beer and pretzels gaming last weekend, and headed down to the local shop with 1000 point all-comers lists. I brought bugs, as follows:
HQ
Prime, no upgrades
Elites
5 Ymgarl Stealers
2 Zoanthropes in a Spore
Doom of Mal'antai in a Spore
Troops
20 Termagants
14 Hormagaunts with Adrenal Glands and Toxin Sacs
Tervigon with Catalyst, Toxin and Adrenals, Cluster Spines
Fast Attack
10 Gargoyles with Toxin and Adrenal
The prime is deployed with the gants, who are 6" from the Tervigon. Hormagaunts to one side, Gargoyleson theright, and everything else in reserve.
I played one game with this list, and lost to my worthy foeman
Skalk Bloodaxe and his Death Guard, 3 kill points to zero. It was great fun, and he's posted pics in a recent thread that I'll link when I get home. So, what worked?
The core of the army essentially was stymied by my inability to pop his tanks. He was fielding a fully mechanized and extremely compact force consisting of a Lord and retinue in the Land Raider, and two seven man Plague Marine squads. My ymgarls woke up very early, rolled poorly on their fleet check, and were two inches from a rhino. The plague marines disembarked along with the terminators, and they vaporized my poor ymgarls. Fortunately my Doom landed close enough to inflict horrendous casualties, but my zoanthropes did nothing with their lances. In the final analysis, I had lost two pods and the stealers, but hadn't slain any units or vehicles.
I'd like to give this list another go. I think there is a lot of potential here, and some things, like the ymgarls, were brand new to me and did not get a chance to shine.
Thoughts?
