I have lurked around here for a brief time and finally decided to post an intro.

So, i started playing war games/ role play games waaaaay back in 1983/ 84 at school. Back then i mostly played AD&D, Middle Earth etc and eventually started playing Warhammer. Between 1985 (ish) and 1992 i built up an Ork/ Goblin army (started with a box of white metal minatures from citadel; Holboth's black mountain boys i think they were called) and played that with varying levels of success (well, mostly no success actually, but the fun was in taking part, or so i kept telling myself).

Because of my lack of ability on the battlefield i emersed myself in the modelling side of the hobby and to that end painted loads of models and army's for other people.

Around 1988/ 89 i started a club which at it's hight had 16-19 members and ran weekly playing pretty much every game of the time (AD&D, Judge Dredd, Middle Earth, Warhammer, Hero Quest, Bloodbowl etc). We NEVER played Warhammer 40k though, because at the time the core members of the club were really into Dwarves and (as they were newish at the time) Skaven and because 40k didn't have options for these armies i guess we never got round to playing it.

By 1992 i had taken a backseat in the club (as i was getting um...Older lets say) and started to realise that most of the original members had moved on and i was the oldest member of the club by a good 4-6 years, which at the time seemed quite allot.

Eventually, due to pressure from family, friends and my new-found love of "the pub", i quite going to club nights. I boxed up the Orks & Goblins, all my books and stuffed them in the attic. Sometime in 2005 a friend of mine mentioned that his friends played allot of wargames and sometimes had problems getting hold of stuff (they lived in Poland) so i gave him all the models and books and that was the end of that.

Well, it was until about a month or so ago when a very good friend of my (who frequents this forum) happened to leave a copy of the 40k rule book laying around and i just kind of picked it up and started reading it. That i guess was the catalyst of my now decent back into the world of wargameing.

So, i am starting out again building up an army of Orks this time for 40k. To be honest i have about a thousand questions to ask both about rules/ stats and more over modleing. But i will save them for another day as this is already turning into a bible length intro as it is!

Well, that's me. Sorry that it's so long. Hope to bother you all senseless soon with more questions than a small child at a science fair!
(oh, i am pretty rubbish at grammar and spelling, so if it's REALLY bad i'll say sorry now!)

While the Emperor does not personally hate the greenskin race, they are however an ever-present blight upon my Imperium.

Welcome to Dakka
