Evening, all!

Just finished Dark Creed; Reynolds impresses, as usual, with a great read. Properly exciting novel. I shan't say any more; I want to discuss the ending!

*Here be spoilers! Don't read any further if you haven't yet read the book; I'm going to discuss the huge ending, which, trust me, you will want to take you by surprise.

Spoiler:
In particular, I'd like to ask you about your opinions of Erebus' rather cryptic words in the final pages of the novel? As best I can make sense of it, it appears the Keeper of the Faith has instigated the Brotherhood uprising, as a means of rooting out the weak - those who might turn from the legion, and seek to overthrow Erebus - so that he could ensure total security within the legion before Lorgar *perhaps* tries to overthrow Abaddon, as is also implied? If this is the case, there's also a certain degree of irony involved; the First Acolyte boasts to his followers of how the Brotherhood will strengthen the legion; it does indeed, but not quite in the way he expected.

Keen to hear your thoughts on the ending, as well as the book in general.

The sink.

It's been awhile since I read Dark Creed. I think this is one of those series were the first book was great and the second 2 books were unnecessary, like the Matrix movies. The second one was especially silly with the protagonist getting possessed by Slannesh his/her self.

I'm definitely in favor of one of the demon Primarchs overthrowing Abby. I think Lorgar or Perturabo would both make good replacements.

While the second may have been a slight disappointment, I think Reynolds more than makes up for it with Dark Creed; it has to be, hands down, one the most enjoyable examples of 40K literature I've read to date, up there with Legion and A Thousand Sons, both of which were very much to my taste.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as it's not the Emperor they're overthrowing, it's fair game.
