Hello! I've recently purchased another unit of Guardians on sprue & am considering making them a Storm Guardian unit. I sometimes play games that are WYSIWYG, and have no clue how to go about doing the conversions, let alone figure out where to find 2 flamers & the shuriken pistols & topknots. ANY suggestions/recommendations would be welcome - don't think I'll be starting on them for at least a week. Thanks in advance!

The dire avenger kit comes with a fair few spears and swords and pistols (because you get enough for 1 exarch per 5 men, and no-one uses the blade weapons on their exarch), but I have no idea where to find flamers. Wraithlord kit maybe? I know FW produces some in their new corsair models, but the kits are probably expensive and inefficient in that you would end up with lots of bits you didn't want.

Topknots, let me put your mind at ease. They are not necessary for WYSIWYG, and they are one of the main things wrong with 40k! Leave the topknots off for gods sake.

If you look in my gallery you'll see this storm guardian conversion that I worked up. I basically took the shuriken catapults and shortened them. To top it off I mounted a blade-like weapons. (I used tyranid flesh hooks) It is an inexpensive way where you really will not have to pay for any extra bits or whatnot, assuming that you know a tyranid player. Now the flamers, that I have no idea.

look on ebay for the 3rd (or4th?) ed Ulthwe Black Guardians upgrade. It's sword and pistol arms designed for the current eldar guardians. Also look for 2nd ed weapon sprues and you will find fusion guns and flamers.
Some of the weapons from the new dark eldar line could work out as substitutes too
