Hello DakkaDakka,

Just got involved in 40K with close to 1500pts of Orks. This is my first venture into mini wargameing, but I have been an avid player of both D&D as well as more recently a Mutants & Masterminds campaign (currently a steampunk western/Civil War theme). I enjoyed my first games with my friend XxRVNGRDxX which was a 750 pt game to get me acclimated to the rules and gameplay. I'm happy in myself to say that I won that game and not because my opponent let me win. I was hoping to get some opinions on how to improve my army for some friendly tournament play and potentially an Apocalypse game down the line. Here is a loose list of what I have (I have not gotten a chance to count everything out just yet):

Ghazghkull Thraka

(8) Warbikers (one of which is normally designated as Wazdakka Gutzmek)

approx. (80) Boys (looking to convert some to 'Ard Boys as well)

approx. (20) Nobz

(2) Battlewagons (each with 3-4 big shootas)

(1) Looted Wagon

(1) Trukk

approx. (10) Boyz w/ big shootas (with some tubing I will be converting these to Lootas with Deff Guns)

I am also looking to get the AoBR set off of ebay to add (20) Boyz, (10) Nobz, a Warboss, and (3) Deffcoptas (I will also be converting the SM Dreadnought into a Deff Dred) and also Snikrot and a few commandos for cheap off of ebay as well.

Anything you think I should add to this list. Any army lists you reccomend that worked good for you that I could benefit from. I'm pretty much looking for any help that I can get and I was told that this would be the place to go.

Congrats on joining up Weaver. Dakka is full of very helpful fellow gamers that know what they are talking about. You may come across a few trolls from time to time but don't let them bother you.

You are making a transition into a game that is expensive. So test things out before you just go out and buy them. The AoBR box is a good starting point, but I would hold off on any other purchases until you have the rules down and you have tested other units. Just a suggestion.

Also, good luck on the painting front buddy.

Yeah WH40K Army Lists is probably going to help you out more than Intros, but good luck none the less!
